This shouldn’t come as good news to Republicans. The democrats aren’t far away from being able to lay a hurting on the repubs.. Getting rid of the old ruling class of Dems is a big step forward.

Normally I would agree with this logic but the new DNC direction seems to be further left which is not all that great come election day.

The way for the dems to make a move is by doing what Clinton did in 2002 and what Sanders has shown in the last primary. You need to engage the younger voters. Many of them dont vote so and they are a huge demographic. The pubes are basically old crusty fucks and are dying off, thats why they are pushing all of this patriotism bullshit to keep the middle age lumps voting republican. But young voters dont much care for these wars and they dont like the situation with health care. Look for the dems to make a big move on that demographic and watch for alot of you old crusty fucks to have a stroke.

Only if they move to a more nationalist agenda.   I don't see that happening.  It also comes down to candidates and their likability.

To some extent we have a 3 party system right now.  The dems its all for one or none for all.   The GOP is fractured into the establishment and conservatives.

Trump and so many GOP winning all over the country proves America is not willing to have a Bernie type agenda.  Just because Bernie can win doesn't mean the country wants that much socialism.   There are plenty of dem socialists who lost including Bernie to Hillary.  Yeah it was somewhat rigged but she still would have defeated him.

The service your family members did was real, it's okay to anknowlege that, if some bastard abused their power and put them into a situation they had no control over that's on them. Our country while hugely flawed has been the best chance at personal liberty in history. Hence the reason the the slave masters of the world have tried to high jack and manipulate it since day one. I believe you can be both critical of the evil in charge without disparaging those either fooled into serving or serving knowingly against a rigged system. 

Since I've completely quit organized religion I've ironically felt closer to God and who I believe is my savior. There has always been a battle between good and evil, truth and lies and all we can try and do is our best not to give in to the darkness. Just because that was my path doesn't mean organized religion can't be a positive for others though. 

I believe all of us have a path different from the next guy. I feel if we strive to be as good a person we can be things at least will be better than if we lay down.

I'm convinced our kids and grandkids will inherit an earth almost unrecognizable to you and I. It's our job at this point in history to allow them find their own path and destiny and you and I should try to convey to them skeptisism while also being honest about a big picture we may never know the answers to.

all of that is well and good.....i think the only thing I can really responsibly pound home to her is to always be skeptical of authority and all the forms it takes.....be that a pastor at a pulpit , a cop on the street , her own parents or a politician or newsman on the tv. think critically and find your own way

I think you are over estimating the blue collar dems desire for a more socialist country.   Half of Bernie's allure was he was a sweet old "honest" man.  Not sure if he could have campaigned enough in the middle to win over blue collar dems especially when it comes to immigration.  That has become a huge issue to middle America and by middle I'm not just talking the midwest.   Elizabeth Warren is a mirror image of him issue wise.....think she could win?   I don't.

I also try to raise my kids to recognize some pastors/cops are liars and manipulators, some are good people trying to do the right thing, even if they mess up sometimes.

Yep, I talk to my boys all the time about a certain % of people being pieces of shit and they always have to watch out for others and themselves.   Its human nature and my number one reason for smaller govt.   There is no way to vet out the pieces of shit that get into politics.   We see it daily.
