Florida Homeowners Are Desperately Trying to Move Out

Recommended Posts

Yikes….

Insurance expert Lisa Miller told Fox 13 that she had spoken with condo board members from around the state who had premiums around $65,000 four years ago that had skyrocketed to nearly $800,000.

For many people moving to Florida sounds like a good idea until they actually do it

If you make a big profit selling your home and pay off your debts and buy a less expensive home in Florida to retire in there, you can never afford to come back.

I know a few that have regretted doing it.

Yep. For many it is a one way trip.  But real estate in Florida has gotten quite expensive also.

it will get better when the Canadians get kicked out and all the Boomers finally die...

property taxes (at least where my grandparents lived for forty+ years) used to be cheap.   the geezers kept the school funding at a minimum and the kids dumb as fuck.  has that changed?

If money makes someone smarter,  then Joe and the Donald should be genius.

Insurance is a mutual system. Obviously the number and severity of storms has led to more payouts, therefore higher premiums.

This ain't rocket appliances.

Fire insurance,  in the hills of California, I'd imagine is big money or unobtainium.

New York rentals average $3,350 for a studio rental to $7,495 for a 4-bedroom rental. The median price of all currently available listings is $4,158, or roughly $6 per square feet. For the apartment units and housing in February 2024, median rents have been roughly unchanged over the last year.
