Capitalism cures poverty

I don't see how him saying that means he's trying to sell it as a great capitalist example.

He was making the point that these people who think we're exploiting other nations ignore the fact that making $2 a day is still more than they had before and other countries(ours included) went thru that stage and other stages to get to where we are now.

They're gaining from it and so are we, win win.

Yeah, great. They got to trade starvation for slavery.

Isn't it grand?

Do you think the economic sanctions placed on North Korea have anything to do with their situation? China is a communist country so if you are hailing the merits of that I think you and the jew in the video need another example.

While China is communist it offers much more economic freedom than NK.

You're looking down on their current position from your pedestal of American privilege.

Going from their prior position to where they are now is a huge step forward.

Yeah, that sounds an awful lot like the justifications for slavery made by Americans in the 19th century.

"Hey, them negroes got it better here than they did in Africa"

I'm not allowed to criticize the current system while I'm benefitting from it?

Can you explain your fucking logic, please?

Its one thing to criticize its wholly another to want tear down the current system you and your employee's benefit from and even suggest killing those just like yourself.

If you take what he's saying to its rational conclusion, it is better to make money off slaves, as long as the conditions of their slavery are slightly better than their lives were previous to their enslavement, so exploitation is okay. Plus we make tons of fucking money and drive down wages in the developed world...

Except nobody is arguing in favor of owning humans.

Nevermind the fact that he's presenting a Sophie's choice. Slavery under transnational corporations vs starvation in a feudal system.

And you just buy it wholesale with zero examination...

As you already mentioned, in Communist China the State runs the businesses, so it's the State that is doing the slavery.

Just another reason government should be tightly contained. :snack:

Authoritarianism should be contained, whether it be in the form of economic or political power.

True communism isn't authoritarian, it is democratic, with emphasis on the lower case 'd'.

Lol. You can't just blame 'the government' for all the shitty things about capitalism.

Capitalists got into bed with 'the government', and have somehow managed to successfully frame exploitation as a high minded anti poverty program.

It's fuckin ludicrous.

Sure I can, government enabled it to happen, just like they have for most all of the genocides on Earth.

Oh, so without government, capitalism wouldn't exploit poverty to its own benefit?

Except the workers are benefiting as well so the example isn't correct.

"Hey, sambo, you're no longer a slave since I pay you a nickel a week. Aren't I great?"

Are we just going to go around in a circle on this?

If you can't understand that a meager wage by our standards is still much of an improvement for these workers, then there's really no discussion that can be had.
