I was fired from my internship for writing a proposal for a more flexible dress code

Stupid interns.

I wear hiking boots to work every day even in a professional office environment because I earned the ability to have some leeway on things through work effort, not to mention when I go on customer visits I'm not changing shoes to go to a logging operation. New guys coming in still all wear nice business shoes. The intern's at that company wanted the same benefits as more seasoned staff, entitlement mentality. :bc:

That ability should be stripped away and redistributed though the intern pool.  Remember, you didn't earn it on your own anyway.  O.o

Is that where you get your crocks?:D

Not sure where these come from.  My wife buys them for me when I'm running low on tread.  :rockernana:  I think they are cheap but I just think that I'm sure.

Socialist

I've been around the office environment long enough to to know there's usually a stern power hungry asshole behind rules like this. And in the office this is the guy that you don't fuck with. He has no sense of humor. Ba-bye

Years (and years) ago I started at a firm where there was a "no facial hair" rule.  At the time I only grew my beard out during the holidays and Hockey playoff schedules.  I rarely came into the office at those times for that reason...and I got a "pass"....guess why?  Yep...I FUCKING EARNED THAT PASS AND MADE PEOPLE MONEY!!!!  Stupid liberals!  :wall::lol:

Funny as hell.  Hopefully, the person who wrote the piece learned a lesson.

They didnt, they're the same person who posted about the racist Red Cross swimming pool poster.

HAHA... Fucking hilarious.

Thats right you were told no than spent extra time wasting the companies money to fuck off on some dress code proposal that wouldn't fly.

They are lucky they even got that far. I had to speak in one of my companies training classes yesterday and man the 20 yr old kids now a days are dumb. there was like 4 good ones out of 15 of them.

We had one intern in our business unit last year. The kid slept most of the time then was on the Internet watching sports when he was awake. Now he's a direct employee at GM and acts like a junior rocket scientist. Amazing how some fuck ups advance by luck or get shit handed to them. The group he is working with now really don't like him. He walks around like a peacock with zero experience only schooling

Nothing going wrong with asking.  I think a simple "no" from management would have been appropriate.  No reason to fire anyone.  I think the best way to do it would have been to wear shoes like the guy who broke code and if you're questioned just act as if you thought it was OK because you saw someone else (don't name) wearing them.  Lots of places have dress codes that aren't enforced.

Where I work our dress code says absolutely no denim.  Over half of men and some women wear jeans every day.  They send out manager memos about the dress code and there's no change.  Why?  Because it's 2016 and no one cares if you're wearing a suit and tie anymore.  Even one of the division managers wears dressy jeans with leather office casual shoes every day.

I got pretty pissed the other day.  Foreman was trying to figure out how to string pipe down a Boulevard with driveways.  Many were gravel and one guy who just started suggested getting the landowner permission  to dig trenches in their driveway, throwing plates over top and then restoring the driveway after they installed the pipe.  I thought it was pretty bright and it was cheaper than installing smaller chunks at a time.  The foreman told him to STFU he's not allowed to have ideas, he's paid to throw pipe and dig holes.  The more ideas presented, the better chance of finding the best option, period.  His decision  was to just string it out and hope no one complained.  Piss poor attitude if you ask me.  Everyone's opinion should be valued.

Are you saying I should show up for work tomorrow with a beard, sneakers, and cut offs, then ask my boss if I can do everything ass backwards?

Foreman was right. When you get paid for ideas, give them. Otherwise STFU. I saw 2 idiots get fired by my father for thinking they were smarter than him.... one was my oldest brother.

All the crap going on in the world and you're worried about dress code.:flush:

Go back to the beginning. Read it. Have it read and explained to you. I'm sure you can find a 5th grade girl somewhere chained, er,  hiding in the basement to help.

Wouldn't it be simpler to just tell him to fuck off?   :bc:

I would have let them go as well. They are interns. If they have the nerve to stir the pot already can you emagine what they will be like after a few years. :news: nip it in the bud early and start fresh
