White House Admits Trump 'Insurance For Everybody' Guarantee Isn't Going To Happen

Source: MSN/Huffington Post

WASHINGTON ― White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney threw cold water on the promise that “everybody” would get health insurance under GOP legislation ― a promise that was made by none other than President Donald Trump himself.

“We don’t have universal ― the only way to have universal care, if you stop to think about it, is to force people to buy it under penalty of law,” Mulvaney said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”

The expectation of everyone in the nation getting health insurance if Trump took office came from promises he himself made.

“We’re going to have insurance for everybody,” Trump said in January. “There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us.” In 2015, Trump similarly told CBS’s “60 Minutes,” “Everybody’s got to be covered.”

One of the bigger campaign promises right out the window. Smh... Lot of blue collar workers voted for him off those statements. He better make right, or even nut case Warren will be able to beat him in 2020.

its all part of his grand plan,  wait for step 2 or 3 or whatever bullshit the right wingers have been spouting on and on about. :news:

To be honest he's just lucky that the "deplorables" are as gullible as they are and believe his false news narrative and ignore reality. it's the only thing that might keep him somewhat in the game but the educated middle who voted for him would be hard pressed to do so again unless the Dems run a complete shrew like Warren

We need a president at some point who can unite a fractured country, not one who does his best to continue to divide.

This says nothing about the millions on the ACA that cannot afford to use it because of the deductibles.  You guys can complain about what Trump and the GOP is trying to do with HCI but the reality is Obamacare helped a very select group of people and with coverage mandates hurt a vastly larger group of people.  Quit looking for HC utopia its not possible in the US.  The plan is to make those with PEC still able to get insurance but give us choices on plans so we don't have to buy what we don't want.   Not perfect but a step in the right direction.  Some of you also obviously do not understand the reconciliation process.  They are not jamming it don't our throats like the dems did.

How many people are still uninsured in the US?
An estimated 20 million people have gained insurance since health care reform was signed into law in 2010, but in the six years since, a significant group of Americans remain uninsured. Estimates vary, but as many as 29 million Americans – about one in 10 – lack coverage.May 10, 2016
