Sand smooth the bottom of your cast iron skillets. Fuck yeah.

What grit did you start with and what did you finish with?

I inherited my moms old deep 14” deep cast iron skillet. It was so caked from decades of use and just wiping it out, I had it sand blasted and I seasoned it.

Are you talking the cooking surface?

All of mine are smooth but they are really old,

Spent it till about 2 wrappibg up the weekend  MN super spreader hay days event

I used 80 and made sure the area removed was equal across the surface. It took a little longer to season than the pebble finish, but I like it better.

Yes, the cooking surface. The older pans were smooth.

Some guys polishing them up and they are super cool.  Like to find an old one and make a heavy spatula out of it.
