I think the DNC know he's the only one with a shot at it because of the Obama factor. Not to mention, he'd be another perfectly good empty suit for them if he can take the chair. Hence whey they are actively sabotaging any dem candidates who might actually connect with the base. And even if Trump is impeached and removed from office the pubes could run a last minute fill in and still win handily over Biden or Warren.
