The horrific acts of abuse that poor little girl endured before they finally killed her......makes me want to vomit. It would be a much more holistic approach than that. I would start with funding for CASA of Cook County and funding for Therapeutic schools like Moses Montefiore that was just closed. Exactly. was listening to a program on NPR last Saturday about a school in the Bronx, 66% of graduates ( they didn't say what the graduation rate was ) went to college. I'm not so sure its even possible. Honestly there needs to be a change to the welfare system as well. History is clear on the decline of the 2 parent household and it exploded during the great society programs and exploded again after Roe v. Wade. Why would fathers care to take care of their children if they think the mother should have simply aborted it. I will say this changing the fact that way too many people are incarcerated for simple drug possession needs to be a serious part of the discussion. I won't argue its extremely difficult getting a job when you have a prison record. We need to start not only releasing people for certain crimes but also wiping their record clean. Raising kids is tough. My wife worked nights, so we wouldn't have to put our kids in daycare. I was one frazzled son of bitch, home with a baby & a toddler.
