  1. We've been in Nova Scotia since the middle of January trying to look after my brother's estate. It has been an overwhelming experience trying to clear a house and shop out with 35 years of stuff with just the 2 of us. We filled 3 big waste bins, burned a ton of stuff and and we can finally see the end result. We had painters in to do the inside and I rented a brush cutter today to get rid of all the wild bushes around the house. All that's left inside is to wash a few more floors and we're done. On Friday a guy is coming to take pics and a drone video of the property so we can list it. Once its listed we can finally go home
  2. Afternoon! It was nice to get outside yesterday without a coat. Today is the same except a little breezier.
  3. We're gonna have a big bonfire here today and the SIL is bringing a portable grill and were having burgers.
  4. Morning! Woke up to a couple of inches of snow and still coming down. This has been crazy fkn weather and it's supposed to get mild from Sunday on.
  5. We are slumming tonight seeing as we don't have the means to our kitchen, pizza oven or bbq. We are limited to what we can cook here so tonight it's a can of vegetable beef soup and some fish cakes.
  6. The GM 265, 283, 327 and 350"s had a ton of longevity with few problems. Ford had the 289, 302, 351 Windsor and Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler had the 318, 340,360, 383, 426, 440 with very few issues. The big 3 had a slew of 6 cyl"s and various other engines they put out as well. Although archaic by today's standards they were on the road longer than the bodies of most vehicles.
  7. I stuck a stick in the gas tank and feels like 2-3" of sludge in the bottom . I screwed around with it today and cut the fuel line, added a piece of rubber fuel hose to the steel line before the fuel pump and put a plastic jug on the inner fender full of gas and stuck the hose in. I filled the float bowls with gas, squirted some gas in the carb and it fired right up. It's sucking gas out of my jerry rigged jug and now we won't need a bunch of people pushing it to load it on the trailer.
  8. We went to a KFC for takeout. We both got the dble tender sammich, fries, gravy and a pop.
  9. We had some pretty cold windy days here in Nova Scotia. It's supposed to start warming up tomorrow and about fkn time. I'm out in the shop with no heat trying to clean it out and hope to be done today or tomorrow. We're on our 3rd disposal bin which'll be picked up Thurs or Fri and on Sat we'll have a big fire with stuff that can be burnt
  10. I took down a wall and gutted the kitchen and just left enough of the counter to support the sink. We plugged in the new fridge and had the gas stove hooked up and a couple fold out tables with the microwave, toaster and coffee maker. While we waited for the new kitchen ( about a month) I painted the entire house. Overall it wasn't too bad but having to live like that any longer it would've been a pissoff
  11. Coffee and a couple slices of raisin bread. Pizza and beer later tonight
  12. Our Dobie loved lying in front of the fireplace
  13. Thanks Dale. We wanted the lot next to the grandkids but that didn't work out so now we'll be a short sxs drive up the road. It'll be a great spot to vacation with the motorhome a couple or three months in the summer.
  14. We looked at a couple lots yesterday and had a pick of the two. They both need clearing and the one we picked had a bigger portion that was level and more appealing. It overlooks the lake and has a deeded access. It's a private deal and just have to contact the lawyer to put everything in writing and cut the guy a cheque.
  15. I had a friends daughter 8 or 9 years old riding behind me and her helmet bopped me in the back. She fell asleep and I ended up with one arm behind my back hanging on to her. It definately is a scary thought thinking back she could've flew off.
  16. Morning! The sun is shining and it's getting milder each day.
  17. I picked up this trailer today and when I'm done using it it'll be getting sold. I couldn't justify spending $2K on one quote and $3K on another to haul a car from Nova Scotia to home and then have no way of taking the car anywhere till it's driveable. I paid $5025 + tax and even if I lose some money on it later I'm thinking it's worth it
  18. The guy did the same to a guy last year. I don't think he wants to sell. It's on a dirt road with lake access as are the other lots. It would've been ideal for our motorhome and right next door to the grandkids. It has hydro, a septic and well on the property with a 60x12 or 14ft wide trailer. The other lots are in the same area that we're going to look at. It wasn't the $3500 it was the way he did it.
  19. We didn't buy a permit for the first time in years. We went up to the Hali Forest for our only day out this season and we've been away since the middle of January and won't be home for another 3-4 weeks.
  20. We are looking at lots down here and put an offer of $50K on one. The guy calls and says can you come up to $53500 and we said $51750. He says he has to talk to his wife then we don't hear from him for 2 weeks. We had a friend call him and he doesn't know we know her and says I hear your selling the lot. She had him on speaker so we could hear and tells her we tried lowballing him. The fkr was asking $50K and then started to play games. We still have a few more to look at in the next couple of weeks
  21. We met quite a few from Ont that cashed out and moved to Nova Scotia. It's a hell of a lot cheaper to buy here for sure.
  22. We are down in Nova Scotia and there's an inventory shortage here. A couple looking put an offer of $100K over asking and were outbid. We have a 1900 sq ft ranch style on 4.77 acres that we're gonna list shortly. We've had half a dozen inquiries already and 3 are from Ont and 3 from here. Show me the money lol. One lady asked if she can have 1st dibs lol.
  23. I belong to a high school group and alot from the area we grew up in are on the group. We live a couple hours north of the city and we have two neighbours that live on our street that grew up in our area. There is at least 20 high school friends living within 10-20 minutes from our place. I guess it's a small world and once this covid shit is over were having a little reunion
