When my dad was racing, you could race a sprinter for a living and be racing 4-5 nights a week for $10k+ each of those nights, all summer long. My uncle used to race dirt late models 3-4 nights a week too. The cost of those cars are killing the classes. Who can afford $75,000+ for a late model or even more for a 410 sprinter? There use to be some great late model series in the midwest and they rarely completed for cars. Now there are 2 in MN/ND that schedule around one another and maybe 3-4 dozen guys total that travel a bunch for those races and maybe come to half of them.

Sprints are kind of an up and down thing here in MN. When my dad was racing in the 90's, there were a bunch. Not so much anymore. A bunch of UMSS sprints are based in the Twin Cities area though, but a lot of the out state guys aren't racing anymore.

I'd like a large coffee waiting at my desk tomorrow morning. If you can't stand a spoon up in it, it isn't dark enough. And a Lindt 99% cacao bar.

It isn't NASCAR, but here is the highlight video from the Knoxville Nationals last night. Jason Johnson took home $150,000. My dad's cousin goes every year because sprint cars are his religion. Texted me this morning and said it was one of the best weekends there for a long time.

I prefer to be active and I don't run, so biking it is!

Didn't watch it (didn't know it was a twisty track this weekend!), but they need to race in the rain on the twisties and part of that is sometimes it will be raining hard enough to throw the yellow or park them.

Maybe the more liberally inclined will be as excited about this as when the newspaper from New York posted up the names and addresses of firearm owners in their reading area.

One thing I'm surprised to never heard about in NASCAR is tire doping. It is a very common topic of discussing at short tracks all over the US and Canada.

I'm surprised this didn't happen earlier and it did need to be done.
