Merry Christmas Democracy, hope it dies. As much as I don’t think democracy works as well as we’d like, it seems to be the best system humans have come up with. Agreed. …but the transportation's of the water uses readily available fossil fuels in the transport. Moving fresh water around in a municipal system does use electricity, but much less than than having to desalinate it first. The desalination process has come light years in terms or energy usage, but when many jurisdictions are maxed out and above on the electricity outputs, ( somewhat thanks to a push to wind and solar) and to build the plants not in the budget, hundreds of megawatts to desalinate and tens of billions in start up costs are not an option. Add on the desire to electrify the vehicle space, heat pumps instead of natural gas and that energy simply isn’t there. We agree it’s a good idea, it’s just the doing it is a problem, if one accepts reality.

Much like using ethanol instead of gasoline, it’s very energy intensive and the game isn’t worth the candle. it was simply cheaper to bottle water from somewhere else and ship it to and within the US than to run a desalination plant. Rogan just couldn’t comprehend it. i don’t imagine there is much fresh, uncontaminated water in the Middle East.

I caught a clip of Rogan sitting down with Neil deGrasse Tyson talking about desalination. It went on for way too long as Neil tried to explain to Rogan how it's not feasible. Like Neil had to almost pound it into his head. He's smart as a bag of hammers...but he is successful anyway.....and without big ole titties and a short skirt. Unicorn.
