  1. My friend has no fear. Good reason he is a friend. His family just wanted to live. I had an employee who had a niece in the bad part of town that was raped at thirteen while walking down the street at 8pm. Terrible for their whole family. He footed the bill to get them out. He did not have much money, but knew he had to get it done. Many people have no idea what it is like to live black in the bad part of town The police were very slow to respond the rape.
  2. I am pretty close to this subject. My other half is an immigrant and I have a close friend who is black. The friend is an intelligent guy that grew up on the bad side of town. He moved to the burbs as a young teen just to get away from the crime and treatment in general. He says that our president being black made it a nightmare for his family. Race tensions became much higher right as the outcome of the election was evident. My immigrant wife does hang out with people from her native land. Many of her friends have PHDs and they are strong contributors to the community. There is no blanket policy to cover these issues.
  3. I knew it would get messy. Protests shut down a major highway for hours last night. I was stuck on the other side of town trying to get home. It was confusing, because we didn't see construction signs. They had MNDOT trucks blocking all the ramps and cops everywhere. http://www.startribune.com/marchers-block-i-94-to-westbound-traffic/386158771/ Wasn't sure why all the mess till I checked the news.
  4. I had the same sentiment about the video. Sadly, this happened close to our home, just over a mile. The area where this happened is nice and calm. The MN fairgrounds are just one block from the location. Driver had a disease that is hard to fight. DWB. Mr. Phil was also licensed to carry. This will get messy.
  5. I can think of a lot of things about the man. Most are not related to the OP, except for the fact that he has now passed. I saw how Mr. Clay changed people and their views on race. I was amazed to see some "particular" people cheer for him. He had guts and stood strong. Those characteristics earned a lot of respect around the world.
  6. Holy crudskis. I had blips on my phone and puter every time one was out of sync. I can't imagine.
  7. Interesting job. I have been working in a building that had 36 data points with our temp monitors. We always run with dual HVAC systems in each zone just to make sure each one was on point. We did not have enough automation on the temp controls to keep the HVAC team away for long.
  8. I like those type of projects. Not a bad way to make a living. I have done some work on my own around the house. First pic was my last reno, had to move the wet wall and electric. I also put in a spa tub and heated floors. It was no small task with a 1.5" mesh reinforced substrate in the whole room. The second pic is my man cave bath that has been claimed by the other half.
  9. Waiting for the sled on the line. I ordered a Cat 800 RR. Yep, I am brave.
  10. In between as well myself. I ran a team that moved "lots" of inventory on a daily basis, Many of the team worked at least half their lives on this job, We moved the operations too far for most of us to make the commute. While closing the building, I was reminded about what I did every day. It was tough to see the old Thank You letters. We delivered products that saved people's lives.
  11. Texting is now old school? People rarely answer their phones, but texts get a quick response.
  12. Those were not the easiest sleds to put miles on the seat. We had a couple of the 2002 ZR sleds that we kept around as spares. We had a 360 mile day and felt so good when we got back to camp that we thought it would be a good idea to burn through the old gas on the ZR sleds sitting in the trailer. We only rode about 20 more miles. We could immediately feel where the ergonomics of seating position caused major pain. I love the thought of "It's only another 100 miles." . Been there and done that quite a few times. Had a few that bit pretty hard on the body/senses. One trip turned into whiteout conditions just after we said "It's only another 100 miles", We didn't have many lodging options and no late night gas. A groomer had also created a snow boulder ridge on the middle of the trail. It was a brutal ride. You couldn't see and it was like riding a minefield.
  13. I ordered the sled I wanted as a first choice. I went with the RR from Cat just because it has the stronger shock package right out the door. I am tired of replacing components. There are quite a few sleds that I would love to try. But, I had to narrow down the field. There is only so much time to ride when you have to work in between. Fantasy dream, I would have ordered a full time mechanic and a fleet of sleds if money was no object. I get tired of fixing OEM problems.
  14. Axys1, Good word on the club member's daughter. I have seen a lot over the years. It is nice to hear a good story.
  15. Are we not using real names? The guy mentioned in the pics is amazing. He rides a ton of miles where we ride. We typically put on about 200 per day. Have had a few right around the 400 mark. Never leave without a relaxing breakfast, but hit the rough trails during the rest of the day. Prefer to eat and then ride hard. It takes a lot of energy to ride in junk. There are no guarantees with trail conditions. Groomers break, clubs don't follow through with their schedules.
  16. It is interesting that they are using American Bald Eagles. Not a native bird.
