24/25 Cross Country
I literally said prior to the catalyst meaning when Herf and everyone else were dominating lake races on the procross they were using TKI belt drives in mod class.

You set the poly chain at .250 of play , and once its warm its got .1875" of play. The back of the poly chain is ptfe coated for lubrication (the blue on the back) They have not been legal in snocross since no one makes a oem belt drive in a snocross sled. Mike just got the slipper clutch approved in 2024 before cat shut down racing. It is coming. If they were slower accelerating - why does every lake xc race that herf and the rest of team arctic prior to the catalyst run belt drives on?

As someone that converted a chain drive sled to a belt drive I can tell you with 100% certainty It makes the sled drastically faster in acceleration. Your top speed will be determined as always by your gear ratio - youll just get there a hell of alot faster and easier with the belt drive. Reduction of rotational mass (aluminum pulleys and a gates polychain carbon fiber belt) doesnt suck up the horsepower that a conventional drive chain a sprockets does. Cats main problem with the catalyst is an alignment problem. not a final drive belt problem. Using a rubber belt reduced spike loads for the morons that cannot get off the gas if the sled went in the air but it also has its short comings in stretch where the gates polychain (as seen on the hypersled post) actually tightens up as it warms up.

Textron 1st quarter results Powersports division sold
It would be amazing to have guys like Brian Dick back in engineering , they need people with a broad knowledge of it all and some leadership to move things forward quickly. So many positive projects were scrapped by mother textron its sad.

The Cat is back baby!!!
If I had to guess, Cat will be a snowmobile only brand , then offset the other months for Argo production on cats lines. increased manufacturing for argo without having to spend a dime on new property , asm lines etc. and Brad can sell it to the equity group as a added value

Snocross 2025
Before pro practice on Saturday afternoon , looks pretty full outside to me - and most people were inside the chalet. There was over 110 races that day from heats to finals. Guess a podcast doesn't have all the answers.

2024 Arctic Cat Catalyst 'Chassis' details?
I've never bent that one but I have bent the lower shock mount pretty regularly. I order the snocross sled lower mount and it fixes the problem. If memory serves me correctly the race dept for the I500 (not the gd soo) had suggested replacing that rod years back with a steel alternative, along with replacing the upper steering mount/frame spar junction that is plastic with the SX one.

Ice thickness too , The DNR really monitors it close - the other thing they face in adversity is like in Mclovins situation - nuking an engine and contaminating the ice, or even fuel stops with fuel spillage on the ice.

You know what you don't have to finance.... F7 I think what C2c was referring to is if you are financing sleds and such , your available cash is reduced so you may not afford to trailer to ride, you may not be able to buy a new sled every year or every other etc. Snowmobiling isnt a low buck hobby since theres no guarantee you'll be able to ride it this year or the following. I have a brand new 2023 rxc and a 6 mile 2024 rxc sitting in my shop confirming that. Years past I would have close to 1500 miles on by now.

permits due to lack of snow - Its amazing how much the DNR has their hand in XC racing in Minnesota, After talking with Todd and realizing all the adversity he faces year to year to put on races it blows my mind why people would want to promote or attempt to put on a race there.

Snocross 2025
I posted the cad and then was told to remove it , its not an assumption. when I dig my sled out I'll measure it out and give actual numbers. Theres a reason everyone is struggling to get the secondary to fully shift out and why the belt dust is everywhere and why even my own sled with 6 miles on it was littered with final drive belt debris - the belt is riding up on the outside edge of the pulley when tensioned.
