Love my XCR 800. The axys chassis is as good as everyone says. The rush skid works, plain and simple. Not the prettiest but damn is it a great trail sled. My next sled will also be a new poo, either the 850 XCR or XC if it pans out.

Not arguing that and I agree but I think it has a reasonable amount of space. It’s not a minivan and it’s much more refined than an Acadia or traverse IMO not to mention easier to find with awd or 4wd. You can also get the hemi in grand cherokees, no V8 option in the gm equivalents. 8 speed is standard, V6 has almost 300hp.

I disagree. There’s plenty of room to fit 4 full size adults more than comfortably. Leg room is respectable and the back seats recline. It’s no crew cab 6.5’ bed pickup or a burb, but plenty of room for a reasonably sized non-bussman sized family.

Wife’s 2018 grand Cherokee altitude awd is awesome, so was her 2015 which would probably be around the 25k mark used for a relatively low mileage one. I got over $19k on the trade in for her 15 that had 75k on it. Original good year fortera HL tires that wore like a boss but needed to be replaced. They’re nice cars and her 15 was great. Only thing that ever needed to be replaced was the Bluetooth module around 10k miles, but mechanically it was solid.

Agreed. I can see the advantages of both. For what I do i dont need anything bigger then what I have at the moment. If i wanted to cook 8 racks of ribs, i could but I don't see that ever happening. My next step is doing a brisket. Any advice? I was thinking 225 or 250 and let er go until I hit the stall. Do I power through that unfoiled or are the results better when you foil? I really enjoy burnt ends and some nice bark but I could always finish it in the smoker to get some bark back if i do foil.

Ive heard Masterbuilt has great customer service and sends out new control units if anything goes wrong. The best part about this unit is that it is a gen 1 masterbuilt box (the best one) with gen 2.5 electronics and heating element. Supposedly the best of both worlds. Stay away from gen 2 masterbuilt units. Yah, I get it. It’s not a purists way of doing it, but to be honest it’s tough to know the difference between the two. Where I notice the difference is the time I save by not tending to a pit. 12 hours of smoke in 1 shot from the pellet smoker vs fucking around with logs. I’d rather spend my time learning now then trying that later.

Masterbuilt MES40S electric. I got it on sale for $200, normally they’re about $350 or so. This one has a built in probe and comes with a wireless remote to set temp, time, check probe temp etc. I use the built in probe to monitor temp inside the box then use my other thermapro probes for the meat. The other thing I like about this size smoker is that it’s easy to transport but can also fit a whole rack of ribs on each shelf. The smaller, cheaper ones can’t. You need to cut them in half which I didn’t want to do. I also don’t use the wood chip tray. I bought a pellet smoker that is just awesome. I can get up to 12 hours of smoke with it in 1 shot vs hand loading new chips in every 20-30 minutes. Hickory/Apple mix was just right for these ribs. Nice smoke flavor but didn’t linger in your mouth for 2 hours after the meal.

Showed bent this already, but smoked some baby backs for the first time yesterday. Only my second smoke. They came out perfect. Not mushy, not fall off the bone. When you took a bite the meat pulled clean off. I did not wrap them in foil, 6 hours at 225 all the way through. No spritzing either. Pulled them at 195 IT, also did the bend test. Rubbed 30 minutes prior to going on. The bark was excellent. I don’t even think I’m going to try the 2-2-1 or 3-2-1 method.

I just got word today that I'll be heading to their Thailand plant in the next 6 months. We just got the order today for a turnkey. A few lathes doing all the turning on some of their Milwaukee 8's and 1200s. Should be interesting from a career standpoint but I am disappointed they have chosen to go that route. Im heading to the PTO plant in milwaukee tomorrow to finish up the runoff on the last 2 lathe cells we just finished implementing into a fanuc robot cell with Makino horizontal mills that do the cylinder fin highlighting. the cells run milwaukee 8s and Twin cams.

Plenty of differences, some are useful, some aren't noticeable. One thing is for sure, though. The XCR will hold up over the long haul much better then a pro S will all things being equal. The fuckin' pro-s eats bogie wheels and bearings. The XCR has IQR solid idler wheels and bearings along with the IQR rear axle. Mine all look fantastic after 2400 miles, bens were all junk after 500 miles . The hayes race brake is just fantastic. 2.52 pitch,1.35 cobra standard. Standard WE needle shocks. You get the WE 2.0 FTS compared to that wet noodle the pro-s has that is always bottoming and bucking you around. Different gearing, reinforced rails, pro X sway bar and riser, IQR handlebars, hardened jackshaft, Chromoly front torque arm and rear scissor, etc. Fuck the list goes on. ITS JUST A PRO-S!!!!!!!?!?!?!!?!! Its the little things that make the sled that much better.

I think the xcr is it’s own machine, it’s a much different beast than your standard pro S. Plenty of info via google search to see that.

121 uncoupled, 2.52 xcr ftw. What a fucking blast on the trails that thing is. I could give a fuck less about longer track lengths on the trails with a sled as nimble as the xcr is. I hope they don’t go away from the pro-XC skid, its pretty fantastic as a trail machine.

My cobra has held up great the xcr is still one of the sleds to best for pure trail riding. The XC is baller status, but pushing the xcr out? Please. The xcr is so far ahead of anything PC it’s laughable, honestly. They really can’t be compared in any meaningful way.
