Platinum Contributing Member Jimmy Snacks Posted August 23, 2019 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted August 23, 2019 Interesting read about the shift in the furniture making business and how real issue is that the remaining higher end custom makers can't qualified employees. Also interesting is the shift from China to Vietnam where workers are paid even less. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-23/lost-jobs-of-north-carolina-are-gone-for-good-few-seem-to-mind?utm_campaign=news&utm_medium=bd&utm_source=applenews

Did you read the article...the jobs that remain in the furniture industry are paying much better and other businesses...such as tech...have replaced them and the unemployment rate has dropped drastically. Anler
I think alot of the TPP was to undermine China as they were getting too powerful. Of course it also further undermines our domestic production.

Well as has been pointed out a few times while this trade war was supposed to hammer China...which maybe it has or has not...production has simply shifted to places like Vietnam.
