I'm guessing "data entry specialist" is another way of saying Military Intelligence 5 years to make Sergeant isn't out if the ordinary in the Marines. Either way...dude was a tool bag. Not sure on ranks in Marines....I guess it depends on unit. Recon boys I knew made E5 in 24-36 months.
