That has nothing to do with protecting children that are crossing the border. Could you stay on topic for once?
Platinum Contributing Member Skidooski Posted February 29 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted February 29 Sure seems like they don't want to know who's coming in or do they want to keep track of them after they cross

As for the question, probably to cut costs ...but I am looking forward to the "part of the plan" conspiracy nonsense that this will drum up. Ought to be hilarious

Ought to be hilarious I just found out about this a few days ago. The only rational explanation that I found for its elimination was that it was a Trump era program. Matt
You nailed it. It's because it was a Trump era program, which automatically made it bad. Trump was the best president we've ever had against human trafficking. He sicked the DoJ on sites like Backpage, a bunch of rub-n-tug directories, mandated DNA testing at the border to prove familial relationship between "relatives" and children, negotiated "remain in Mexico..." Under the Biden admin, there are literally coyotes showing up at the border with children with addresses and phone numbers listed on them. Border Patrol is instructed to call the number, find out if they're expecting a kid, and if they say yes, on they go. Poor kids...

Shutting down Backpage created enormous difficulties for both law enforcement and endangered sex workers. Backpage became a registry for known sex workers which in turn allowed law enforcement to better monitor who’s who in the area. They were better able to ID underage persons and set up stings. It also placed more of the power in the hands of the worker and out of the hands of pimps and johns. One can argue the morality of the issue, but it’s evident that shutting down Backpage did not serve to cut down on prostitution, it created an environment more dangerous to workers and harder for law enforcement to weed the underage or abused workers.
