Platinum Contributing Member Highmark Posted October 30, 2023 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted October 30, 2023 24 times. Russia..."hold my beer." It gets even more terrifying than that. The largest nuclear weapon ever detonated, the Tsar Bomba, set off by the Soviet Union in 1961, produced an insane 50-megaton blast—about 3,333 times more powerful than the Little Boy bomb that leveled an entire city. https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/weapons/a23306/nuclear-bombs-powerful-today/

Platinum Contributing Member Highmark Posted October 30, 2023 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted October 30, 2023 I would assume most of our nukes are far more powerful than the bombs dropped to end WW2. This headline is fake attention grabbing at best.

IMHO your government is far too corrupt to have that kind of power or the morals to make that kind of decision. You guys keep raising the bar on nukes, others will just follow suit now. That really isn’t a large nuke. In fact it’s hardly large enough to be considered a strategic nuke. It’s more for hardened military targets. To put it into perspective, one Ohio class sub carries 20 missiles. Each missile has 12 warheads that it releases while still orbital. Each warhead is about 500 kilotons. There are 18 Ohio class subs lurking in the depths awaiting launch orders.

So far nukes have kept humans from opening up WWIII. Without those things we’d probably be up to WW5.
