Gold Member BOHICA Posted October 28, 2023 Gold Member Share Posted October 28, 2023 Fish and wildlife preventing Musk’s Spacex from launching the most powerful rocket ever built. "...there does seem to be some significant increase in the weaponization of government and really sort of misuse of prosecutorial discretion in many areas... I think this is really a dangerous thing for there to be partisan politics with government agencies." Musk continued: "I don't think the whole administration has it out for me," he added. "But I think there's probably aspects of the administration... or aspects of interests aligned with President Biden who probably do not wish good things for me." On Sept. 5, Musk said Starship was ready for launch. https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Musks-Mega-Rocket-Faces-Unprecedented-Regulatory-Delays.html

In a policy order that went into effect July 20, the FAA outlined three main eligibility requirements for commercial astronauts. Commercial launch crew members must be employed by an FAA-certified company performing the launch; they must reach an altitude higher than 50 miles above the surface of the Earth during flight; and they must have demonstrated activities during the mission that were "essential to public safety, or contributed to human space flight safety." Under these rules, space tourists who pay for suborbital or orbital joyrides are ineligible to receive astronaut wings.

Gold Member BOHICA Posted October 28, 2023 Author Gold Member Share Posted October 28, 2023 (edited) NASA doesn’t consider them tourist. Considers them astronauts. A private space company just contracted space X to take astronauts to outer space just like the US government does for their astronauts. Axiom space paid space x to get there astronauts to the space station is all. On board with Connor will be former NASA astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria, who is an Axiom Vice President and will serve as the commander, Canadian businessman Mark Pathy and Eytan Stibbe, an Israeli entrepreneur and former fighter jet pilot. They will be the first all-civilian, commercially-funded crew to visit the ISS. As of Tuesday morning he’d already completed 1,022 hours of training and that leads to a distinction that the Axiom Space company – and Connor especially – have stressed. “A lot of people don’t realize we are designated by NASA as private astronauts,” Connor said. “And that is a huge difference as compared to a space tourist. That underscores the difference between guys like Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson and their quick up and down trips into space and the upcoming mission of Connor and his Ax-1 mates, who’ll be aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft launched by a Falcon 9 rocket. “While a space tourist might go up for 10 minutes and not do any experiments or research, we’re on a 10-day mission to the Space Station and the four of us are doing 25 different experiments encompassing over 100 hours of research,” Connor said. The 72-year-old Connor said he is partnering with both the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic to do “four different experiments centered around the heart, the spine, the brain and aging.” Edited October 28, 2023 by BOHICA
