Gold Member BOHICA Posted August 11, 2023 Gold Member Share Posted August 11, 2023 For July. Biggest decline was coal used for electricity as coal power can’t compete on price for the consumer with solar and wind power which are much cheaper. https://www.juancole.com/2023/08/renewables-supplied-electricity.html Renewable energy supplied a record of 69.2 percent of Germany’s public net electricity generation in July 2023, according to data by research institute Fraunhofer ISE. hayward
Well no shit, they’ve been subsidized to the hilt. Fuck that nonsense. If farmers over there had to make 100% investment on their own installing biogas digesters, guess how many would be in business yet today? our country can’t afford what it takes to get to 69% renewables. Our current annual farm subsidiaries would most certainly get a lot of renewables built in this country. Our farming in the US is near the top in the world in subsidy spending. p51mstg
What's the actual cost per Kw, compared to, say, France? Nuclear for the win. Super green, plenty of fuel, much more reliable than solar and/or wind.

The farm wouldn’t exist in modern form with out electricity to there home. Never mind the major consumptions of electricity in farming. The current conflict in Niger and the anti-France sentiment brewing with the military coup will put a crimp in France’s uranium supply. They’ll still be able to source it, but the price it going up. The same is true for American interests in uranium. Shifting political winds is going to see the price of uranium take some big jumps. Lead times are through the roof from the factories in Germany.
