Unfortunately we don't have them here. Guy I used to work with that lived at the lake with a huge grass yard kept guinea hens as I guess they just walk around all day eating ticks.Or so he claimed :dunno:

Sounds like there are pro's and cons with them and the debate is still out on how many ticks they actually eat?

we had guinea hens around, no match for the pine marten. i thought they were cool, kind of like a watchdog, they made noise when anyone came around. picked at the ground constantly , still tons of ticks.

farmer down the street has a bunch of those fat little bastards, along with another half dozen kinds of fowl, from roosters, ducks, pigeons, etc..  They’re always hanging out in the road, and are the dumbest bastards imaginable.  Lay right on the horn, 18’ long pickup bearing down on them, they don’t give a shit.

There are a bunch of wild turkeys in my camp yard this time of year. Supposedly they are grazing the yard for ticks. Ticks are really bad in the UP this time of year.

They are the devil. The next 4 weeks are the worst. I typically don’t go up there right now. The ticks and black fly’s keep you inside. Loggers have to wear those nets on their heads.

It's going to get like that here soon too,,very late spring with super high water,,should breed lots of mosquito's too. This year seems to be a bad one for ticks so far

We go up for the 4th of July for a week. They are usually chilled out by then. You get eaten alive before that.
