Sweden Reports Its Highest Number Of New Cases Yet Source: The Guardian Sweden reports its highest number of new cases yet. Sweden reported 812 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, the highest number of new cases yet reported, bringing the total number of infections so far in the country to 17,567. On Friday, the country also reported 131 new deaths from Covid-19, taking the total death toll in the country to 2,152, according to data published by its public health authority. So far, 1,256 patients have had cases serious enough for them to be treated in intensive care.
