As I recall Apple didn't make a stink, they said give us the phone and a warrant.  The FBI wanted the tool to do it themselves and Apple said FU.

no, apple did make a stink and all the rwws loved them for it. this is in regards to icloud data though, not on a personal device, and on other equipment.  i think apple was wrong for making a stink about the cell phone in the first place. no different than the law getting a warrant and searching your home.

IMO apple should not give the government a tool to crack the iphone-  if there is a warrant Apple can provide the information to the government but there needs to be checks to the typical government abuse of power

i'm sure apple could have gotten the data from the phone, without sharing how to do it with the feds, and this stink would have been avoided.

You have nothing but excuse after excuse. Apple gave info over with no fight. But fought to protect the information of two terrorists. If you don't see a problem I can't help you. That goes for Neal and the other idiots supporting apple hypocrisy.

Just so you know I supported Apple when they fought the FBI.

Incorrect.  They said they would unlock the phone with a warrant.

if it were that easy we wouldn't have heard so much about it.

"In a 40-page filing, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles argued that it needed Apple to help it find the password and access “relevant, critical … data” on the locked cellphone of Syed Farook, who with his wife Tashfeen Malik murdered 14 people in San Bernardino, California on December 2.

Despite … a warrant authorizing the search,” said prosecutors, “the government has been unable to complete the search because it cannot access the iPhone’s encrypted content. Apple has the exclusive technical means which would assist the government in completing its search, but has declined to provide that assistance voluntarily.”
