hwytohell
https://www.dragzine.com/news/new-owner-invests-2-5-mil-in-revitalizing-michigans-lapeer-dragway/ I have made the trip there in 2005 and 2013 , very basic track that was rough back then. Hope the new owners can do well with the old girl. Martin U.S. 131 and Milan strips are very short in the shutdown area but have some very fast cars there. Ubly dragway will feel the pinch in time as that track only runs till dusk and needs a repave and the shutdown area is short in the 1/4 mile runs , 1/8 mile you are ok but not much room for error, driver or car. Ubly is a nice clean run track . Mid - Michigan Motorplex in Edmore - Stanton keeps improving each year with big bucks door slammer payouts . Northern MI dragway in Kaleva is doing a good job also with car counts and a very long shut down area for the racers. Plus a very nice rustic , laid back feel. Same family members operates Northern MI and Mid - Michigan and used to lease and run Ubly back in the day, " Getting Ugly at Ubly " Onondaga dragway outside of Lansing, has reopened after being closed for many years , a multi year(s) court battle ensued with local gubmint boards that were recalled, They have made needed improvements , run only 1/8 mile from 9 a.m.till dusk on Saturdays and some mid week test and tune. (d)etoilet sure missed out when the old dirty D @ Sibley and Dix closed , for whatever reason that rough and tumble track had a whole lot of traction and was wayyy long, except for the big ditches and high weeds on both sides of the track. Saw some wild shit on and off the track at the dirty D
racinfarmer
Think we only have 2 or 3 drag strips in MN.
Platinum Contributing Member Skidooski Posted July 18, 2018 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted July 18, 2018 I went to Onondago last year. Not bad and they are still making improvements. Going to try Lapeer as soon as they finish the back half. Used to live 20 minutes away and never went because it was all gravel parking lot.
