"There's nothing in Mueller's letter about the press," Blumenthal pressed.
"The letter speaks for itself," Barr said.
"This letter is incredible," Blumenthal said. "I know of no other instance of that happening."
"I don't know Bob of being a career prosecutor," Barr said noting Mueller was head of the FBI.
Barr said he believed the letter was written by one of his staffers.
"Did you or anyone on your staff memorialize your conversation with Mueller?" the senator asked.
Barr said a staffer took notes on it.
"May we have these notes?" Blumenthal asked.
"No, why should you have them?" Barr asked.
