For mutual funds fees, A series funds the mer's include management and trailer fees for advisers/brokers, typically about 2.2%, F series funds strip out trailer fees (0.7% to 1.5%) and are paid out separately and negotiated based on net worth. No load funds pay only management fees and possibly very little to a broker. There is no fee to buy or sell these except for short term trading penalties. Commissions for buying or selling mutual funds of any kind are virtually non existent in Canada. F series sound like your privately held IRA, you can hold anything, mutual funds, stocks, bonds, etc. Beta is in very left field.
