  1. And the charge lasted almost a week!
  2. In Sweden it was mandatory for snowmobiles to have "two independent brake systems" for a couple of years, some airhead politician thought that if the wire broke you would be brakeless. Yep, the same as if the chain breaks... and both levers actuate the same brake! So if the lever down at the brake rotor comes off you would still be without brakes. Also it was mandatory with a horn, but the rubber ball horn is luckily missing on this machine. Of course the extra brake will be removed, less weight and you can move your hand all the way in to the throttle. Thanks for the tip about parts sites, hadn´t thought about those. Ostersund where I live is about 312 meters above sea level (1023 feet) so I think stock jetting will do.
  3. What effect does it have to move the rear scissors forward or rearward? Suspension is in the lower hole, as I remember it that will get me quicker steering, am I right?
  4. "-One Special please.." Picked up a 1993 JAG Z Special today, decent condition and runnable. Needs some love and new parts. Hood has two cracks and the "chin" also has some cracks. Ignition key is broken in lock New tether is needed, has the mandatory screw inside it to make it work right now Switch in throttleblock is out of order Seatcover needs some stiching or better a new cover Peeling paint on suspension parts I think I´ll just fix ignition, throttle block and tether this season and run it. More fixing in the summer. Got no book so I would like to know the default jetting for this machine, any suggestions for main, pilot, needle setting and screws?
  5. Thanks! The 440 AFS was rated at 46hp when sold here i Sweden, so 50 sounds realistic for the Z with two carbs.
  6. My first modern sled was a Arctic Cat JAG AFS 440, and it had one carburator. There were 2-carb kit to buy from Black Magic but it was too expensive for me then. Next sled was a Wildcat 700 and that one already had twin carbs.. But when my little brother was about to get his first sled he drooled over the Jag AWS Z Special with twin carbs and the low windscreen, it looked mean! I remember we used to discuss how many horsepowers it had compared to the AFS 440. But in the end we found a nice JAG 440 AFS that we bought. But I still don´t know how many hp the JAG Z Special made, what is the answer?
  7. Not so many trees to hit but there sure are rocks.... MOV_2020.mp4
  8. I also said Mountains, but these may not be the same kind of mountains as the treadstarter thinks... these are swedish "fjäll". And also winding wooded trails.
  9. FXR boots with BOA Halvarssons Outlast bib pants Halvarssons "Scratch" jacket Halvarssons balaclava Hestra Army Leather Heli Ski 5-finger gloves Airoh Terminator helmet 509 Sinister goggles And underneath it all, socks, underpants, sweater all Woolpower.
  10. I´d like to start a thread with fun commercial or testvideos. I remember Arctic Cats "Moose on the loose" and Yamahas "Johnny Skeptical", lets see som fun videos! I start with a testdrive of the Ultratec passenger sled, in finnish but with subtitles.
  11. "Once upon a time" most machines fitted into a racingclass, can´t this discussion be traced back to that? Now there are mostly 600s racing, and no mod-class. I believe it was the mod-sleds that drove the evolution of the sleds forward a lot, what wins on Sunday sells on Monday. And when the next generation of racers 440s, 600s came along the manufacturers could detune previous generation of racers and sell them to the public. Does this make sense or am I just rambling here? BRING BACK THE MODS ;-)
  12. Lynx has been 137" for a couple of years and this year is no exception. 3500 mm is app 137 inches
  13. Say hello to Lynx Rave RS 600RS E-TEC 2022! After sweeping the podiums in all 2021 main competitions on European snowcross tracks, the Rave RS 600RS returns on tracks meaner than ever. The main improvements in the reigning World Championship sled are: Redesigned, lighter seat with narrower rear part and added rear support. Repositioned front arm of the PPS2-3500-R rear suspension providing more suspension travel and better suspension balance. Refined calibrations in front and rear KYB Kashima 46 HLCR shock absorbers for faster cornering and more balanced ride. Optimized setups in the Racing pDrive drive clutch and the Team TTS-04 driven clutch to meet refined engine calibration of the Rotax 600RS E-TEC. Try to keep up!
  14. I´ll probably get bashed for this one... Yamaha V-max4 1992, touted as THE most badass machine to have, got beat in a straightline race by the Arctic Cat Wildcat 700... Superheavy despite a lot of aluminium used. But put some turbos or pipes on the Vmax4 and it was another story... but still heavy.
  15. This! Or up in the mountains (fjäll), vast white trails..
  16. There was one for sale here in Sweden last winter. I think a couple of sleds managed to get out before the factory was completly closed down. I read on another forum a long thread about a guy that had bought one and went over it bit by bit and fixing what was not "right" so it could be usable. Redline was THE machine everyone talked about but it took too long to get to the market so the competition was way ahead of it, and this sled is clearly not o "rider forward" machine. They even had a snocross sled (can´t find a picture of it) but it was banned because it was too light! The other brands lobbied for a minimum weight limit to get it banned it was said. Interesting machine anyway.
  17. Lynx for me obviously! Best seating position, awesome suspension and BRPs LINQ-system. But I have friends that ride Polaris and they say they are the best, even some persons that hail Yamaha., and I used to ride Cat for many years before Lynx. But for me the Lynx is perfect, pin it over the moguls and just hold on, or click in the 2-up seat for my daughter (and then pin it over the moguls) :-) Let it snow, let it snow, let it snoooow
  18. First one on the trail after snowfall, drove a short track 800 so that was fun! 2017.
  19. Down through the tree limit.. Sun is about to set over the mountains
  20. Wouldn't it be fun to have another brand in the races? Lynx (yes I'm a great Lynx fan) As a Swede I'm curious as to where Oscar Norum is going, he had a good eason last year, and of course where will Elias Ishoel end up?
  21. Since Lynx is now beeing sold "over there", do we need one more brand forum? Or is it too soon?
  22. Yeah, that was a good winter but there are bad ones also.
