ok, I'm gonna get pasted for this.... But my wife worked in research for a pharmaceutical company for 34 years. To develop a drug can cost up to 100 million to get it to marked. They usually apply for a patent pending to protect them. That is only for a certain amount of time. After that other companies can change the non active ingredients and sell their own without the development cost. So the pharmaceutical companies need to make their money back quickly. The USA is the best place for them to do that. Usually after clinical trials they only have a few year left before the patient is no longer pending and anybody can view it and alter it. Their cost may only be 10 million or less so they can sell for less and take market share away. I know this is not the only problem but it's a big one
