  1. SBYL that you can't afford to buy your wife an expensive purse... If buying your wife a $3K purse is the breaking point of buying or not buying a cottage your budget is too lean.
  2. Check the trails in your area. It seems a lot of them don't handle the wider side X sides well and that is done intentionally. I was out with a friend a couple of weeks ago. The side by side is 51 inches wide and navigated the trails well. In a couple of places you had to go forward, back up and turn the wheels to change the angle of approach to get through but not a big deal. There was also a wider, I believe 60 in side by side which provided seating for 3 and there were a few places where they just couldn't get through. The chainsaw was brought out a couple of times so they could get through. Apparently the trails are kept narrow by design to keep them too narrow for the Jeeps to make it through.
  3. Not at all. I married the perfect person for me and we share our similar common life goals. My wife enjoys some of the nice things in life as do most people. Each person is unique in what they like, appreciate and enjoy. We can afford those expensive things that she wants. It would be absurd of me to deny her those pleasures that make her happy. She doesn't deny me the things that I enjoy and make me happy. Our marriage is a partnership where we both share in the rewards of our labour. She never denied me buying a new boat or a new sled when I bought them. She doesn't see the same value in some of them that I do but that's unimportant. I see the value in what I want just as she sees the value in what she wants. I would feel sorry for your wife if she is denied the things in life that would make her happy simply because YOU don't see the value in them.
  4. Yes he does.... 2 + 2 = 3 don't you know.
  5. Her having a new purse or jewellery may do nothing for you but if it makes her happy she is just as entitled to be happy as you are running around on a $15K snowmobile. I have a friend with a small fortune in guns. I don't see it but he does which is all that counts. Your wife sees the value in what she likes and that's all that counts. I shudder to think what it cost to keep my wife's horse over the 25 years she had him... but she got every penny worth based on how happy she was.
  6. Happy wife happy life... if you can afford to make her happy why not. She can look at what I have invested to go fishing.... Loomis rod $400 Shimano reel $550 - I have 5 rod & reel combos in that range, don't even want to think about what all the stuff in the 3 tackle boxes is worth. One box is the complete collection of Mepps. Then the fishing boat and motor itself... sure cover a lot of what makes her happy.
  7. There wasn't a rebate when we did our windows and doors. With the Fiberals it came and went from time to time. You're right those sweetheart contracts likely won't be broken but there won't be any new ones and when those sweetheart deals come to an end... surprise... the gravy train is over.
  8. Maybe Doug will have him as the Auditor General... after all he's smart enough to understand the complexities of electricity pricing but the current Auditor General isn't.
  9. Obviously they didn't get Fail's memo saying how wonderful things are doing. Maybe he should reissue his memo. Yeah right... you deal with backyard mechanics that aren't legitimate business operators dealing in cash only. The rest of the people you know are living off the government, most of which like you are employed but hardly working. The start of the end for Trudope.
  10. Those solar farm and wind farm people are upset that their very sweet vey lucrative deals that McSquinty handed out don't happen anymore and will be all but non existent going forward. After all Ontario has a surplus of power. https://www.thestar.com/news/queenspark/2018/01/25/new-gas-plants-under-scrutiny-in-wake-of-trial.html Socialism at it's best. Let other people pay for renovations to your home that you would likely do regardless. Those grants / rebates were on and off. We replaced all our windows and doors and didn't look for someone else (government) to pay for them.
  11. If I find something that I like that much more than what I have I will likely buy it. The only real innovation I have seen so far from what I have is a flip up section of the sun pad at the stern to provide an easy walk through from the swim platform. That's not enough to motivate me to buy a new one. I haven't seen any at the show with the sense of roominess that ours has either. I have considered getting a pontoon as well but just not ready for one yet. When I do the price is what it is and is just a part of the negotiation. My point is that if you want a boat you are still going to buy one. You are still going to hand over the same amount of money that fits your budget. It's not going to decimate the industry irreparably as they want you to believe. The last two years at the boat show, even with the US exchange rate I have heard how strong sales are and one dealer I know tells me that two years ago was the best for sales they have ever had. Even with the poor exchange rate.
  12. It will have an impact but I don't believe 10% will decimate the industry so badly it may never recover like the article suggests. If it can survive the Cdn $ value it can survive the 10% tariff. As for the new boat.... I go to the boat show every year and come home with very little. I haven't found one that I like that much better than what I have to make me want to trade it in. I just like our boat. Not may bow riders have an 8' 6" beam. I don't imagine the guy who bought the $249K pontoon or the 40' I believe Carver with the sold signs on them would see the 10% as a deal breaker and gone home empty handed. If you're buying a $75,000 boat current price are you not going to buy it if it goes up to $82,500? Worst case scenario you buy one 2' shorter.
  13. Really... sounds like an over reacting scare tactic. a 10% tariff on boating imports from the US and the industry will never recover. How did they ever survive when the $ exchange rate changed. At the end of 2012 we were on par or slightly above par with the US $. Currently it's $1.32 Cdn to get $1 US. That's far more impact than a 10% tariff yet it seems boat sales have still been very strong. Some people may be impacted and perhaps buy a smaller boat or a smaller motor but if someone is buying a $100K + boat 10% variance probably isn't going to be a deal breaker to drive them out of the market.
  14. He's overdue for another vacation. He never realized being PM would mean actually working harder than being a part time drama teacher... time to de-stress. We could have a trade agreement with Canada and the US and a separate one with Canada and Mexico a lot quicker than the all or nothing Canada / US / Mexico Trudope is insisting on. Of course he keeps trying to inject gender equality into it as well. NAFTA was signed in 1993, 25 years ago. Trump is right it was LONG overdue to be revisited.
  15. More idiocy from STILL WRONG ONEWAY FAIL
  16. Doug talks to the people... not AT them or Down to them.... unlike Wynnebag. People are concerned about the cost of surviving amid rising expenses the government has a lot of influence or control over. They are tired of the BS lies, smoke and mirrors, double speak etc. that the likes of Wynnebag spew.
  17. Are MP's paid by the hour? Do they get O/T? I thought they got an annual salary and allowance for a constituency office plus some other expenses. $1.5M is approx. $4440 per MP. Pretty steep. Where did the $1.5M number come from.
  18. yeah... keep telling yourself how government are leaders in health and safety....
  19. Gee Fail... I guess you need to send a memo to the likes of Xerox, HP, Lexmark, Canon and Ricoh. You know the guys that make the stuff... they seem to have missed out on your wisdom. Do you wear your hazmat suit and breathing mask when you go to the printer? Each toner brand is different. They are all patented. They have unique thermal fusion temperatures.
  20. You really have a comprehension problem don't you. Spill some on the printer itself and you can vacuum it off and any residual can be wiped off with a cold wet cloth. You can wash it off your hands with cold water. Just don't rub your hands and generate heat before you try and wash it off. I guarantee I've forgotten more about that technology than you think you know.
  21. I know what it's like in an office environment with printer copiers. Print and Imaging is one of the hats I wore at one time. We had about 5,000 toner based printers across the country. I learned more about the differences in toners than I ever wanted to. They are all resin based and all the OEM's patent their toners and each has a different thermal point at which they fuse to the paper. There are also a handful of OEM's that have cold fusion laser printers. I did visit the Xerox development lab a number of times and their toner plant, both in Oakville. The toner plant was surprisingly clean.
  22. don't forget the justice system that lets people off for not knowing it was illegal in Canada to beat your wife or force her to have sex with you.
