No one wanted to believe the Afghan army would collapse so utterly and quickly, but it was widely know by those on the ground.

 

Every serviceman I talked that was there said that the afghan army was all smoke and mirrors. Wouldn’t know that by what FNC and CNN were reporting. The one mistake some say was made, was using a civilian airport for the final extraction. The argument is that they should’ve used Bagram AFB. It would have minimized the threat of attack from ISIS. That still would’ve placed US soldiers at risk when they were escorting nationals to Bagram. It’s always a shit show when governments fall.

Thats all it was.  More of DC enriching themselves.  The similarities to Vietnam are there.  A bunch of farmers with pitchforks who could care less who thinks they are "in charge".  They just want to be left alone. Theres nothing to gain there.
