Posted by Mount Bohemia up in the Keewanaw.

The last super El Niño was very similar . No snow at Christmas then it came in fast in second week of January and we opened on January 16th with great conditions . The whole mountain was open by January 18th . This photo taken by @joeywallis in outerlimits on January 18th 2016. So remember as bad as it seems right now things can change fast especially when Lake Superior is warm and wide open .

I need to find someone to attempt to replace John Dee's, RIP,  forecast and general enthusiasm for winter.  Can anyone lead me to somebody?

It is kinda depressing without John Dee ... he sure knew how to at least create some optimism.  I'd have to go digging, but there's someone who's posted in the "Northwoods Snowmobiling" Facebook page that apparently has a pretty strong following (and is similar to John Dee for their enthusiasm for snow).

My best advice would be to check Twitter / X. That's where a ton of weather geeks hang out. The ones that I have delt with here in the northeast are very friendly and open to discussing the weather. Im sure that there are even a few meteorologists that are also snowmobilers in your area that are on Twitter like we have here in the northeast.

I hear you there. I follow a guy on YouTube mostly for his accuracy in the summer. I have seen posts from a page called Midwest Weather that at least seems less negative towards snowfall compared to one of the MN Weather guys I follow on Facebook.
