They’re not buying food or gasoline at least not in any greater volume than any other day, rather they are waiting for deals on durable goods. Why is this distinction important? Because it nullifies his inflation and nominal vs real purchasing power argument quite heavily. This is because durable goods have been experiencing deflation for several months now and peaked over a year ago.
