ckf
I'm sure the Governor will veto it. Quote Vt. House passes pot legalization; bill goes to Gov. Scott Posted: May 10, 2017 2:50 PM EST Updated: May 10, 2017 2:50 PM EST By Kyle Midura MONTPELIER, Vt. - In a surprise twist, the Vermont Legislature has become the first in the nation to pass marijuana legalization. This afternoon, the House passed the bill by a count of 79-66. The plan delays legalization by one year, so in July 2018 it would be legal for someone to possess up to 1 ounce of pot and a couple of plants. The bill now goes to the desk of Gov. Phil Scott, R-Vermont, where it could still be vetoed. Asked today about whether he would veto the plan, the governor said did not say, but he hinted the plan may not meet his test for keeping children and roadways safe. The plan creates a commission to look at taxing and regulating pot in the future, but it doesn't give Vermonters any legal way to purchase it. Edmo
the governor said did not say, but he hinted the plan may not meet his test for keeping children and roadways safe. This is lame. As if it's hard to find pot now.
ckf
Pot legalization proponent says Vt. law recognizes new trend Posted: May 11, 2017 12:32 PM EST Updated: May 11, 2017 12:35 PM EST MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - A marijuana legalization proponent says the Vermont Legislature's vote to legalize recreational use of marijuana shows the "walls of prohibition" are falling and it is here to stay. Matt Simon, the regional representative of the Marijuana Policy Project, says the approval of marijuana legalization measures last November by voters in Massachusetts and Maine is what brought legalization to the East Coast. He says Vermont is recognizing the reality that marijuana is going to become legal nearby and it's best to control it. Before Vermont, voters in eight states and the District of Columbia had approved marijuana legalization. The Vermont bill would legalize the use of small amounts of marijuana effective next year It remains to be seen if Vermont's Republican Gov. Phil Scott will veto the marijuana bill. http://www.wcax.com/story/35406076/pot-legalization-proponent-says-vt-law-recognizes-new-trend
