Guys that are wondering what grease to use basically a water resistant grease and there are a number of manufactures for this.  I use Amzoil synthetic water resistant grease and have not seen any failures on the sleds I've use this on.

  • When you're paying 15k+ for a new snowmobile wouldn't you like to think the fucking manufacturers in today's day and age could put in a grease zerk from the factory? Other than the engine crank b

Had to laugh over on HCS where Tricky Ricky is also using a deflector now.  Never mentioned anything about it until you posted about it.  By next year it will be something he developed and will be selling them.

Thanks for your original idea and pics  :good:

Yeah, I saw that... I was kind in my response to that 500 word essay he wrote about all his testing, and how his $140 "kit" now includes a bearing deflector.  :smack:

So for basically less than half of what he charges, you can do what I did, WITH a new bearing and have good results.  (I did cheat and pull and re-use the same bearing on my 2021, which now has 11k on it)

Not a Rick fan with his wacked out responses most of the time.  More like commercial you'd see at 3 AM and his numbers and claims are constantly changing.   Does have some decent sled knowledge but is by no means the sled God.

So before Rick tries to sell me one, what did you use for a deflector?

Pulled the seal off a 2024 jackshaft bearing and looked good for grease but I still added some.

Would have liked to have seen more grease in the drive axle bearing.  I did add grease.

How did you hold that to drill it out to 1 1/4?

I put three screws around it, on a board I could clamp to my drill press.  Centered it and drilled it out.

Figured while I was going through shit I’d check this driveshaft bearing, been at least two years and at least 2500+ miles since I checked it.  It now has ~10,000+ miles since putting grease in it and the deflector on the inside of the tunnel… I’m putting the seal back on it and running it!
