Senate Democrats coordinated with the White House on a number of impeachment-related issues behind the scenes.

According to Baker, one of those arrangements involved White House Counsel Charles Ruff arranging a “secret signal” with Democratic leadership. If Ruff wanted to rebut anything from the Republican House managers, something rules didn’t allow for, he pre-arranged with then-Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle’s aides for a senator to submit a question to then-Chief Justice William Rehnquist asking the White House to respond.

Aides reportedly would "fill in the name" of one of several "default senators" -- such as Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and then-Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn. -- who had agreed to allow themselves to "be used in this way."

The book also detailed how then-Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, spoke with Clinton and helped organize a pressure campaign in defeating Sen. Susan Collins’, R-Maine., attempt to adopt “findings of fact” by which the Senate could take a majority vote on whether Clinton lied under oath and impeded discovery of evidence even if the chamber failed to convict him. Baker described how Clinton “tracked down Harkin in the Democratic cloakroom during a break in the trial to vent his outrage" at what Collins was cooking up.

“Harkin needed no convincing,” Baker wrote. “He had immediately recognized the pernicious effects of the findings plan and set about trying to destroy it before it got too far.”

Why wouldn’t they?

Also, I thought the Dems wanted a purely partisan process?  Or, do they mean just their version?

This is just dumb.  Liberals are so fucking stupidly arrogant, it just boggles the mind.

They ran a completely partisan inquiry that didn't follow the historical ways they were ran by the house in almost any way.   Now any talk of the majority doing the same in the Senate and they are crying foul.   It was never about removing Trump from power.   Its about hanging "he was impeached" around his neck for the rest of his Presidency and life.   And they call Trump childish.   Pelosi will never send it to the Senate and I'm convinced that was the dem senior leaderships plan.   The younger ones wanted it to go to the Senate because they think he will actually be found guilty and removed from office.   Kind of like they believe socialism will work.

Yep, that and now trying to take senate seats by blaming McConnell and the T’s for running the show similar.  :lmao:

Of course, let’s not forget....none of these impeachment accusations (charges) are even remotely plausible in a real trial.

There is no law or code that is obstruction of congress or abuse of power.   None.

I seen an interview with a couple protesting Trump the other day and they were convinced he has molested his kids and many others.   That is how bad the MSM has some American's brainwashed.

It almost sounds suspiciously made up....and partisan.

It is what it is; fodder for their base of absolutely moronic sheep....and nothing more.

Yep their base love it but will they lose a few if they don't follow thru and send it to the house.   These are not people who will vote for Trump out of spite but might simply not vote.

The independents they are losing bad on this.   Its political suicide but what really else can they run on with the economy strong.
