“Certainly Justin Trudeau embodies this idea of rule of law and openness and liberalism. But China is the opposite of that, and increasingly it’s the Chinese model that seems to have more pull,” Bremmer noted.

And he's delusional enough to think he can change things in China?

OTTAWA – The Ottawa and District Labour Council has set up a hotline for minimum wage workers to call and report employers who are reducing hours, benefits, breaks, and any other workplace changes. It comes as a result of the Ontario government’s hike in the minimum wage.

OLDC President Sean McKenney tells 1310 NEWS that while they appreciate business owners needing time to adapt, “the punishment” of workers through reducing benefits or taking other things away like breaks is wrong.

McKenney says they’ve heard stories locally about worker impacts and while the council acknowledges there may be some difficulties for business owners from the wage hike, ultimately, a rising tide lifts all boats. “I understand that its an added costs, but at the end of the day, we (OLDC) firmly believe that the wage hike will be in the best interest of everyone.

The council intends to verify any information from the hotline and make public the names of business that are eliminating paid breaks, or reducing other incentives.

The hotline can be reached at 613-233-1251. You can also email minwagebully@ottawalabour.org.

Tim Horton's store that have taken bennies and breaks from workers are taking a beating, not just by the public but from Tim Horton's Canada itself...

After days of public and government outrage stemming from policies introduced by Ron Joyce Jr. and Jeri Horton-Joyce, the children of the company’s billionaire co-founders, at their two Coburg, Ont., locations, the coffee chain’s Canadian headquarters called the franchisees’ actions “reckless” and “completely unacceptable.”

A statement from Tim Hortons released on Friday said the cuts “do not reflect the values of our brand, the views of our company or the views of the overwhelming majority of our dedicated and hardworking Restaurant Owners” and that staff “should never be used to further an agenda or be treated as just an ‘expense.”’

Wynnebag was forewarned and did not care.

The franchisees are pawns in all this.

interesting nothing as far as headlines from wal-mart, homedepot, home hardware,  lowes. starbucks, second cup, -  I am sure they aren't happy too but haven't said a word.

Who forewarned her or any government when wages are increased :dunno:

this wage increase has more effect on Northern ONtario and not so much on a busy GTA southern Ontario Tims business

Second Cup and Starbucks owners would give their left testicle to own a Tims.

really have you ever seen any politician go down for being crooked, nothing new here

Trudeau wasn't cleared.- No one is going down for taking a vacation

I really didn't care about Moreau, we all knew he was rich - any tax situation would affect him

why?  a PM costs money when he/she goes anywhere.

no different than defending a minister using a Military Helicopter for vacations
