  1. Speed and lack of vision are my faults/excuses......or just plain stupidity.... I was lucky enough to hit the correct side of a large pressure crack.

    LinQ system

Some folks are just completely wacked, or plain stupid or have no regard for anything but themselves.....or all of the above How about the mountain addiction system, looks pretty good and have heard good reviews on it. Not sure on the price though, but the Doo system does look pretty sharp.
  3. Ya, I got that....."father". Still explains a few things about you though.... I have had a couple of bad wipe outs on Simcoe.....but still here to laugh & joke about them.....also seen a few that the people are no longer here to laugh and joke about them, very sad!
  4. I guess that explains a lot about your train of thought on things....thinking you might have hit the wrong side of those pressure cracks a few too many times... Also explains why you have gone through so many sleds too...and the "salvaged" sleds you like to ride. Little bumps... You obviously have not rode many frozen lakes on a real cold, cold winter.
  5. And when the wall or pressure crack gets too high, out come the chain saws....haven't seen that in a few years though.
  6. I read on one of the forums that someone cut a whole off big bay point and there was 12" of ice. Not on the northern end, but there are trucks running across the lake... And I hear the ice road is open to the island.
  7. Judging by the bald tires, I am guessing the driver liked to let the engine breath often....

    Sled Rentals

Fantastic! I also believe right along that trail is the dividing line between the two clubs....maybe one groomer says to himself, "the other club will groom it", and the other groomer says the same thing...
  9. Warmth and larger wind shields are the new fad.....I just bought a larger bug screen myself....

    Helmets

Depends on your comfort levels.....my "cold" 509 did okay on a trip to both areas a few years ago....
  11. It is amazing what a set of good winter's will do for ya.....plus, let's be honest, South of 7 is typically just an extension of Fall throughout the winter months vs. an actual winter most years, so why short change yourself and get the most of your sports car....

    Sled Rentals

That section, or a portion of it, is always last to open, there is a long swamp area that usually beat up more than smooth....but with the cold, I am surprised that it is still Red. Perhaps there is another reason for it being Red, possibly the ATV / snowmobile clash or something else. I guess when they are smudging the trail passes, they can afford a few freebie hand outs.....
  13. No, performance had nothing to do with it actually....it was the prestige of the car that was in question. A person driving a lambo down the street will not get the same attention as a Vette, because the Vette would be considered average compared to the Lambo, you posting the picture proves that point, but than again you did just post a couple of Vette pic's too! On the performance side of things, the Vette is likely the best bang for the buck, no doubt..... The money, or perhaps the amount of debt, that you see as look around this general area, is insane.....from cars to homes to designer apparel, it is nuts!

    Helmets

Are these helmets not similar to any other? It seems these days so many helmets look the same with different brand name or graphics. Is it possible a visor from another brand of helmet will work?
  15. Looks nice! I'm sure you are loving the new ride! You are confused, that is not an average car....but if I recall, you were comparing an average Vette to these.... Exactly what I felt when I first looked at Doo years ago. Machine turned me completely off them and there was no effort to try and sell the sled, it was as if they were doing me a favour to sell me one, so unfortunately I took Doo off my list....
  16. Already given up on the season, have you Pete....
  17. My Cat started to do that when I had the starter still installed, at first I assumed it was just a weak battery as that is what it seemed like given what was happening and the factory battery was now a few years old, the next season installed a new battery and same thing, slow crank and sled would not start when used. Applied 12 volts directly to the starter to eliminate everything else, same thing. So I removed the starter and all the parts associated with it seeing as the starter was bad, what a PITA that was, but I have never had a sled with a starter & even when I had a working starter, I found myself never using it for some reason, so I felt there was no reason to have it and was not interested to spend the money on a new or rebuilt one.
  18. no experience myself, but a few have noted Quinn's as good in the past.
  19. But there is also 5CM of snow.....so that means a rock a solid trail with some nice lube
  20. Oh, one of those property owners, are ya Kind of surprised at the no others sleds though!
  21. Your group usually make it a habit of blocking a trail or stopping just beyond a corner.... I am sure it felt great to get out . Took the kids for a little boot around the house, down the roads seeing as the roads still have snow on em and the banks are not bad.....getting back on the sled really makes ya want to go out some more!
  22. That is how I started dirt biking....dad bought our first mini bike that I had to share with my little sister and little brother, which lead to me buying my next dirt bike and than a couple of YZ250's & scars to go along with them..... Always wanted to have sled when I was younger, but never actually bought my first one until about 13 years ago. Just bought my 3 & 5 year old kids their first dirt bike, and hoping to also get them into sledding as well in the near future.
  23. That is a great thing to be able to say, but I am afraid now a days if parents do not foot the bill for all or partially help out, the chances of the kids actually engaging in the sport will be less than what it is. I am guessing that was not your first sled and you grew up riding given where you live....so it was just a matter of time before you wanted your own sled, one that you picked out vs. a hand me down or what someone else was willing to buy or help you out with.
  24. Those 13.5 wide tracks sure did skate in the corners and spun a ton, I am sure considered a real hack to a groomed trail, in the right hands of course......but fun to ride. Didn't the T660 end up yours as well? Definitely a nice pops you have there...I would say you were almost to the AC silver spoon levels
