  5. As many of the previous members know... I beg for money once a year to support the Kingston Humane Society . Christmas day 2009 I came across a young black lab hit by a car on the 401. He was hit the night before and somehow mangaed to live. through the generosity of the people of Kingston and the Humane Society this dog, formally Oliver but now Rupert was saved. Eash year since Rupert and I attend their annual fund rasing walk in an effort to repay our "debt" as well as create more miracle stories. I realize not everyone views animals the same way and appreciate that, I also understand money is tight with many if not all of us... so please, please don't feel this is an attempt to guilt. Its not.. I'd apprecaite anything form a simple good luck, attendance, or a donation... Ruprt was left for dead...then they thought he'd lose both rear legs...then only one leg.. But throught the intervention of Dr Cherie White he now runs down rabbits and squirrels bringing them back alive and well as presents.. Thanks in advance!!! Feel free to ask any questions..... 6. Technically it is possible. Many services have polices in place discouraging officers from accepting gifts or other services for free..
  7. Yes it is illegal. You require two means of attachment one of which must be a rigid tow bar. Sadly, those days are gone..
  8. https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/030316?_ga=1.190964074.1501812441.1431969770#BK20 Pretty much sums up the basic requirements. I can not find any mention of speedo anywhere. Keep in mind also that a given municipality can set even lower speeds (but not higher) through the use of their bylaws. As for eBikes...ugh, don't get me started. They are still technically in a pilot project phase and the regulations may be tweaked somewhat in the future.
  9. At the detachment? I don't drink coffee and don't have a sweet tooth.. so no, I do not get free coffee and/or donuts.. I've heard of some restaurants that offer free or reduced coffee to emergency services works and military...whether or not this extends to donuts I'm not sure...
  10. You are required to have your headlights and taillights on at all times while on a roadway. I will dig deeper into the speedo issue but have not heard anything stating you must have it. I will get back to you.
  11. http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/driver/handbook/section1.9.1.shtml Short version: 12mnths at G1 UNLESS you take an approved driving course then only 8mnths at G1.. as for the SxS no, you require a class G2 or better to operate any offroad vehicle on a roadway..
  12. All, As in the previous FS I am willing to lend my expertise like any others on this forum. I will attempt to answer any and all relevant question you have regarding sleds, ATVs and general enforcement. Be aware..this is not official OPP communication nor is it legal advice. Its simply my opinion based on experience as a police officer. For those unaware I've spent the past 10yrs working in the Snowmobile ATV Vessel Enforcement team (SAVE) and have built up a lot of experience, met many of the original members and I think we all had benefitted from the questions shared on here. Hopefully the mods will pin this thread. All I ask is that this thread not turn into a police bashing thread... If that happens I will not be able to continue. Feel free to bash away, just not in this thread please. Sean
  13. I know its slow in here.. But is there any interest is restarting my old Q and A thread? Sean
  14. For what its worth... The knees and punches are what is refered to as distration techniques in order to have her loosen her arms so she can be cuffed. They look a lot worse then they are... my $0.02
