  1. Not really even BNG from cat for the non catalyst (legacy) sleds, same graphics just swapped the 2023 orange accent color for green in 2024....
  2. Another interesting patent i just noticed, a flexable front skid arm. https://patents.google.com/patent/US20220396333A1/en?assignee=Arctic+cat&oq=Arctic+cat&sort=new
  3. The only benefit i see here in Idaho is certain mountain passes do not allow trailers such as Teton pass between Jackson hole and Idaho has a no trailer policy during the winter, other than that i rarely see a sled deck where i ride, its either trailer or one in the bed by itself. Damn things cost more than a decent used 2 place trailer, and really no easy way to load a broken sled other than rope over the cab.
  4. "Its a really good engine"
  5. Damn and almost 4k miles...... It'S MiNt CoNdItIoN!!!
  6. Sold my wifes 98 Zr 600 A.D. yesterday, made a good profit on it, suprised the guy drove 5 hours from Montana to buy it.
  7. Removed the hideous wrap that was on the sled, the crap was nearly as thick as a credit card. Took 2 hours to get to this point with a heat gun. Any tips on how to remove rust discoloration on white powder coat?
  8. Drove three hours last night to pick up a sled in dire need of some love, moving up from a 2001 Mountain cat 800 to a 2013 M8000. Cons: steering slop, need to remove wrap, broken ski loop, no keys and im sure ill find more. Pros: 12 years newer than current sled, reverse works, paid less than $3500, has clean title, great suspension, no missing lugs, under 3k miles.
  9. I think i found all the remaining SnoHawks in existence for sale, cheaper than a kit for your bike....
  10. IDK what was said in the video but snowest just pulled it down....... i only seen the first 22 minutes. This is what they put out, its a shorter video.
  11. Here's a summary written up by snowest Forum member boondocker97: "Just listened to the hour and twenty minute long SW podcast on spotify. Here are the main points: Tested all 154 length tracks. Some 3" lug and one 2.6" lug. 3" was the definite choice in the deep snow they were in. 2.6" trenched a little more. SW staff does not like the current Alpha Ascender. Like at all compared to a Polaris or Ski-Doo. Catalyst feels nothing like the current platform. It's lighter, more balanced, predictable, and the Alpha skid in this new chassis doesn't feel like the Alpha in the current chassis. They had one current 800 Alpha and no one wanted to ride it after being on the Catalyst. Does not feel like a Cat. Feels like something completely different. Feels like the most naturally adapted mountain platform of any brand. Cat staff emphasized that mountain was given the priority when developing the platform. Chassis feels shorter and smaller. Everything is packaged about as tight as it can get. Reduction of parts throughout. Even smaller, trimmer wiring harness. Weight. They believe the 10% weight reduction. Sleds they tested all had ES and they can't believe they didn't notice the extra weight from it. No different tank or seat for ES models, but rest of ES system is largely the same as past Cat models. There is no "breakover point" in handling. It's an even feeling rolling from one side to another and easy to compensate or make changes. Back end never washed out. Belt drive. 3 gear ratios available that use same belt. Eccentric tension adjustment on the top shaft. Steering system. Old system uses 6-7 parts from handlebars to skis. New system uses 3-4 New mountain steering post has a U-joint in it to get it vertical. Steering is easier and progressive. Aluminum accessory running boards that were on the white/blue sled iced up. Composite boards did not ice up. 600 Engine It rips. 125hp class. In the Catalyst chassis it goes as good as an 800 in another chassis. They would rather buy a 600 Catalyst than an 800 Ascender. Will be no larger motor in this chassis for 2024. Cat simply does not have it ready, supply chain, manpower, etc. They are excited for when the larger engine comes. Limits on how many snowmobiles can be built. Cat is going to try to price it around current 600 prices. Everything was better than expected"
  12. 2-up snowbike for the trails anyone?.......
  13. This is what was in our company sleds at the start of the season, boss has an account with local GS and puts in 91 (w/ethanol) the second time we went to a Mountain Top communications site one sled would barely idle then die, brought them back to the shop after suspected fuel issue, the blue tint was from the running sled, and the other from the non running sled. Dumped both sleds tanks into a new trash can at work then skimmed the gass off the top (coworker put it in his old pontiac) and we were left with 3 gallons of Ethanol/water out of 20 gallons total. Replaced filters and fuel lines then got the boss to realize we need to run non ethanol as we rarely use them more than 6 times a season and we need to stop leaving them full of fuel inside the trailer all summer and starting them once a month for 10 minutes (these are 04 beartracker 570's) I believe alot of this was phase seperation but it could also be the gas station had a large amount of water in the tank, no reason to have that much crap gas. Went on two more call-outs then the sled that had issues wouldn't start (under 90psi on both cylindersl) and the still running sled was barely going (117psi pto 106psi mag) and they are both at 1100 miles.
  14. Sundays maiden ride of the Black Frankencat was a success, the Wife really enjoyed riding it over her 98 ZR 600.
  15. Another Arctic insider article posted about the Riot. https://www.arcticinsider.com/broken-arrow-studios-2024-arctic-cat-riot-catalyst/
  16. I keep going back to look at that patent and the PPE patent and looking at their catalyst to see if it is possible to shove their parallel path turbo system in there (particularly the one with the turbo right off the Tri-pipe). would love to see a video of one of their turbos in testing even if its on a bench to see why its beneficial to seperate the turbo from the pipe. https://patents.google.com/patent/US20220170407A1/en?assignee=Arctic+cat&oq=Arctic+cat&sort=new
  17. Had the day off today, got 7" of snow while I was home, test drove the 600 mod then got into the scrap pile and fabricated a rear bumper for the 800 that i put used running boards on last weekend.

  19. Could be a shop ornament now with that fresh coat of satin black rattlecan paint.
  20. Hoping to get it on the snow this weekend, just some odds and ends to finish up then see how the clutching is.
