  1. Speaking of torsion springs, my buddy had to upgrade his on the new XC 850 he bought. He's a tall athletic guy so it makes sense. Interestingly, even at my 185lbs i didn't find it to be over-sprung. I definitely like how on the Polaris skids you don't have to pull the upper idlers to swap the torsion springs. That makes it an extremely easy job and the Cats are a pain in the ass in comparison.
  2. Taperk makes a good point, there's a difference between running hot and over-heating. Back in the day we all rode around in ignorant bliss with no absolute numerical indicator. Flashing meant find loose snow and solid meant meltdown imminent haha. Now I find myself obsessively watching temps, when at the end of the day, it's never really mattered and actually detracted from my ride. All this and I've still never run scratchers.
  3. These are the mod sleds correct? I think I've seen 98 flat out with my R-XC on ice.
  4. Cat has done well making a truly race ready machine for the masses in the form of the R-XC. The only thing that purists may gripe about is the QS3s. While awesome trail shocks, I'm sure actual racers benefit more from extreme adjust-ability offered by other shocks.
  5. For what it's worth, I've found that the "harder" you ride these Procross machines the cooler they stay. Which only makes sense...more track spin throwing snow and the water pump impeller spinning faster off the crank. But I'm talking a difference of say 125 degree vs 102 degree coolant temp.
  6. How do you like your VR1 650? Not trying to derail the thread...do you have a link to a thread expounding your thoughts? I spent some time on an XC 850 this past weekend. Very fun sled!
  7. In our group at least it's almost always the Poos that have over-heating issues. I had the ice bridge that several have referred to on my R-XC maybe once or twice, but I think I've seen my temp light once on my procross sleds, and that was on my turbo in extremely icy/hardpack after a groom-thaw-refreeze.

I hear you. I'm just salty because it seems like half of of our Cat dealers have disappeared, many of the ones left don't actually have Cats in their showroom, Cat hasn't been to the Novi snow show in years, etc. Now if you're interested in trying one of these things you're looking at an 8hr drive from a major metropolitan area. This is the current Cat proposition: Oh you wanted a big bore? Sorry we only have a 600 for over 15k. No you can't realistically try it before you buy, sorry. Also, you may not get it til February 2024.

Closest drive is over 6 hrs and requires a passport. Michigan snubbed again! Maybe some new dates will pop up, but with an event already planned for every weekend into April, I ain’t holding my breath. Closest drive in the states is over 8hrs. Brutal
  10. Doubling down on conspiring to murder. Bold strategy.
  11. You've thought about killing a person with your vehicle for impeding you in a driving lane?

Watched the full vid as requested! I'm really excited to throw a leg over one of these.
  13. Damn, Zach almost got a podium!
  14. The timing is off even on floracing. Apparently the 102 is actually is leading, not the 28 of Goede.
  15. The Doo of Goede is on another level.
  16. The next generation on sleds will get a "like" from me every time. Love it!
  17. If I wanted to be married to the electric shield/plug it'd be a viable option. The oxygen just doesn't work well without it. Not the case for the Mission.
  18. One thing I've noticed so far, is that the drop down tinted visor seems to have less issues if it's deployed. That's another reason I like the mild smoke lens, I can use it during all daylight hours and as long as its deployed it won't fog or ice. I think on cold days if you get sweaty the lens will fog and then ice when retracted due to moisture and heat rising.
  19. My thought was that they know they're down on speed, so they are trying to make the oval as small as possible and staying out of trouble. Just a guess though.
  20. That was a wild 2 lap restart on that last semi. Herfindahl got passed at the last moment finishing P4 (top 3 go on). The Cats of Herfindahl and Langaas seem completely outmatched on the straights unfortunately. Thought Herf had it but got passed like he was standing still on the straights. Certainly not lack of skill. Herf has another shot in the LCQ but they're gonna have to find more speed.
  21. Neither the Titan nor the Mission is modular, technically.
  22. WC sweet 16 final on now!
  23. Oof Langaas highsides while checking up for potential disaster in front of him. Hope he's ok. Looked like he was keeping that right arm tight to his body while pulling into the pit.
