  1. We were on the topic of automotive travel. Do I need to spell it out for you moving forward?
  2. Again, we were talking about gasoline demand and the drop in prices. Stay at home orders reduced traffic in just about every state. That drove down demand, which in turn drove down gas prices. What you're giggling about I have no idea. I didn't say every business was shutdown. There were "essential workers" that went about business as usual. The overall drop in automotive traffic though, drove down demand. Whether or not your boxes got made or you had record sales, has no bearing on that whatsoever.
  3. It's weird that I can order online from Home Depot and Lowes and don't have to travel to the store too. So weird. And I wonder how so many states had 40-60% reductions in traffic in 2020. https://www.ite.org/about-ite/covid-19-resources/covid-19-traffic-volume-trends/
  4. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-58899460 Interesting read.
  5. Times Square, March 2020 Downtown Chicago, April 2020 Neither looked too busy to me.
  6. Pretty simple, supply and demand. There was no demand last year. Everything was shut down. Now demand is higher, and the industry is recovering to meet demand after it shut down due to C19 and lack of demand. OPEC isn't helping either. Will be interesting to see if we tap the "emergency reserves" to keep the prices steady or lowered.
  7. Yet gas was cheaper in '15 and bottomed out in Feb of '16. Why the steady rise through the end of '18?
  8. So, I'll ask again, what is Biden doing to drive up gas prices? You just asked the same question with different wording and felt clever about it.
  9. Like I said, Freedom of Speech does not mean what you think it means.
  10. I think its too late to recover. Both parties have become "For Profit" organizations and they're in charge of making the rules. No way they'll give up their power and wealth. And they'll make sure no outside party disrupts it.
  11. Now go and Google whether or not that applies to private individuals, companies and employers. Let us know what you find.
  12. Pretty sure it was the Conservatives who did that to Kaepernick. Freedom of Speech does not mean what you think it means. Wonder if any of this had to do with Gruden's being ousted as well: 45-51 with Tampa Bay 22-31 with Raiders 0 playoff wins in 10 seasons Plays a convenient out.
  13. The unbiased, non-partisan, and thorough investigations of Dan Bongino. He seems angry about everything all the time. Quite a persona.
  14. And the time period from 2011-2017 the House was controlled by who when the debt increased by almost $8.5 trillion?
  15. Seems like such an easy solution too. Just stop spending. Less on military and foreign aid maybe?
  16. They ebb and flow. I don't for one minute believe California is going to somehow become a pillar in state financial management. They do have an impressive GDP though and due to Silicon Valley, I don't see that changing too much. North Dakota for instance was pretty bad until the oil boom there, then their GDP spiked and their population followed which led to more tax dollars and thus a lower tax burden. As goes the oil industry though, it is volatile and their growth as flattened or declined since they exploded 10+ years ago and their future prospects are not as positive. Who knows what this will look like even 5 years from now.
  17. Multiple sources out there. Simple Google search: (June, 2021) https://www.zippia.com/advice/states-most-least-debt/ (Just says 2021 so not sure how current) https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/debt-by-state
  18. From your source: “California is the most indebted state with an outstanding debt of $152.80 billion during the 2019 fiscal year.” Now do 2020 and 2021. They’ve been dropping. This is the first time in a long time they’ve seen a surplus. I thought we established that. They also have the highest population per state and thus, their debt per capita is $3,800 which is lower than say, Wisconsin at $4,000 per capita. So yes, a staggering amount of debt, but also a staggering population to pay it off. I’ll never understand why some think state financial management and mismanagement are a single party problem. You have a red state like TN that has done a great job opposite a red state like Alaska that has horrible debt. A state like Nevada, which has been blue as of late and has a Dem Gov has done very well and yet, IL which is run by the blues in Chicago is complete horseshit.
  19. It will be a less than clever meme. 50/50 chance it’s actually related to the conversation.
  20. I’ve done neither. That’s the conversation in your head that’s talking.
  21. They're like 5th in the world. What's helped them is the Big Tech companies just kept on rolling through the pandemic, many of them going public. Lots of tax money to be had there. So I don't think they saw the dip in income tax like other states as so many of them WFH anyway. They do have a high sales tax, but I believe it accounts for less than 40% of their overall tax income. I could be wrong on that though. When your argument loses it's legs, go to meme mode. That always works.
  22. If they're both excessive, wouldn't they cancel each other out, resulting in $0 surplus? BTW, Iowa (3.39%) and Wisconsin (3.25%) have a higher property tax burden than California (2.64%). And, both Iowa (1.57%) and Wisconsin (1.85%) have a higher effective real-estate tax rate than California (0.76%) Might want to rethink that "excessive taxation" stance. Unless you're attributing that to Iowa and Wisconsin's surplus.
  23. He still broke WI state law by being in possession of a firearm under the age of 18. (Exception being for hunting, which obviously was not the case.) As for the self defense claim, it looked to me like those guys were coming after him to do harm. I don't know if he has a rock solid defense, but the videos are pretty telling. Whether or not he should have been there is subjective. By the word of the law, you don't have to justify yourself for carrying a firearm in WI even when from IL. Only way they get him, IMO, is if they can prove he went there with the intent on killing someone which I think will be hard to prove.
