Fired Mpls teacher - a good listen

She starts off kinda tepid, but she opens up… you can skip commercials (only one set) but listen through the end of her discussion - about 45-50 minutes

I used to think people who became teachers were just lazy, so they could get their summers off.  My opinion has changed over the years, especially over the past 10 years or so.  What they have to put up with, especially in larger school districs, I don't know how they can deal with it.  And this lady is the perfect example of someone trying to take a stand, and the administration hanging her out to dry :wall:

She was fired for "Unprofessional Communication" because she wrote a letter/email.  Yet they turn a blind eye to students assaulting staff, or other students.  Pathetic

Way to much common sense in her thinking and bringing it to the surface so people need to address it.  That's what is wrong today.  Bring a problem up and having to address up front.  You may offend someone and hold them accountable. You can't do that.  >:(

When the response is, "That's just how it is here" ... it's time for a major overhaul, and it should start with the Superintendent and School Board.

They are highly educated and studied the theory world but never spent one day in reality.  Education which is needed should but 50% classroom and book study and 50% real world.

A comparison I would give young inexperienced Engineers when they would reference a tech book is...Did they write the book and then prove out the theory or did they prove out the theory and then write the book.
