Why the F35 can’t be shot down.

I don't think most understand what the F35 is and what it means in future conflicts.

Given its capabilities and the fact it’s actually 3 combat aircraft in one, the $1 trillion plus price tag has turned into a bargain.

Isn’t the F22 more advanced? Wonder if we give all this tech away to our allies when we sell them these planes.

The F22 is mono-role air superiority fighter. It lacks the versatility of the 35 and all its variants. The US controls the equipment the F35 is shipped with. The only country that gets a build to order F35 is Israel. Go figure.

Yes and no. The F22 has no equal on the world stage as far as air superiority but the F35 has more advanced electronics. The real power of the F35 is automation to reduce pilot work load and the ability to quarterback drones and other weapon systems.

One F35 variant can also be carrier launched and another is VTOL. The variants are so different from each that only 20-30% of the parts are actually interchangeable.

  • High operating costs, obsolescence, and immense production prices contributed to the type's planned retirement starting in 2030.
  •  Despite $11 billion in updates, the F-22's avionics remain outdated, and its lack of modularity limits the ability to improve its systems.

F35

The F22 would destroy it in close combat. The F22 is more stealthy, faster, and maneuverable. The F22 is a hunter/predator of other aircraft. It has but that one purpose.

The F35 would not survive a dog fight with the F22. The nick name for the F35 is Fat Amy. It has great abilities but against a dedicated air superiority fighter with better stealth and thrust vectoring it would be no contest. I have seen both planes fly and it is no contest as to which plane would be winner in a fight.

The funny part is they are testing a ground attack addition to the F22. Also some of the early build F22s are being used as 6th generation test beds. Some that could trickle down to front line F22s.

It would never get close to the F35.

The real short coming of the F22 is that it does not have a job. What air force on earth would last a week against 50 F22s let alone the 180 we have laying around. And that is forgetting the part where we still have the most successful fighter in history the F15 in the bull pen.

The multi billion dollar upgrade the F22 is going though will make it even more dangerous.

F35 is a flying sensor…. A manned drone.

Data is collected from all the f35’s, drones, other aircraft and when they need to take a shot the decision is made over computer over who takes it.  F35 doesn’t have to have air superiority.

skynet.

It is a situation awareness monster. Nothing flying has the capability to give the pilot a gods eye view like the F35. But it is not a dog fighter or air superiority plane.
