Yep...NATO was absolutely relevant during the cold war but easily could have been dissolved after the Soviet Union fell. Think how much the US could have saved on defense. Oh you are right there.....the west (mainly the US) fucks up everything it touches anymore. We like to go around and preach this and that while surrounding potential enemies with bases. If anyone does anything of the sort to us like during the Cuban missile crisis we threaten nuclear war. The US can be symbol of freedom without surrounding everyone with our military. I love the pro NATO guys on here claiming they are just "defensive" bases. If our bases were just defensive the only thing they would have is missile defense systems. Not offensive weapons. A lot of those bases are also probably just operating stations for the cia for running coups to install US puppet governments The US just found a way to take over countries without invading them.
