Reading old crudded up vin # plates

When was the last time the trailer had a license plate on it or a current registration for the license plate? Here we have to renew the license plate registration every year, two years or I think we can do every five years. If you have a license plate or old registration the police should be able to run the license plate and give you the trailers Vin #'s ??????

My state sends me a email before the plates expire and need to be renewed. The file contains the VIN of all the vehicles that need renewal. I save the emails but maybe you can search back for the renewal email?

Local DMV purges the records after 5 years. It's been more than 5 years, too.

NY either doesn't do that or maybe I just never gave them my email. That's not a bad idea tho, they have every other tidbit of information what's the harm in my email as well?
