Platinum Contributing Member Highmark Posted November 1, 2022 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted November 1, 2022 Commodity based companies generally always do well when their product is high. Doesn't mean their margin % goes up much if at all. Sometimes a portion of their inputs remain elevated after the product goes down. Makes the down times even more down without really constraining input costs. Most of the time when the media is talking about corporations they are talking gross revenue not necessarily net. I think a lot of farmers right now will have very high sales this year however with inputs being elevated it won't mean the net income is as high as people might think. Now when corn goes back to $3.50 and inputs stay high the good years can be offset in a hurry. Of course they get plenty of govt help as well.
