spin_dry
More than half of workers in oil and gas, 56 percent, said they would look for employment opportunities in the renewables energy sector, according to the survey. Last year, that percentage was 38.8 percent, highlighting the shortages the oil industry is facing as it looks to hire again, after letting go in 2020 thousands of workers in oil and gas and related services in the supply chain. https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/The-Oil-Industry-Is-Facing-A-Labor-Shortage.amp.html

Some oil industry jobs are damn tough work and can include time away from the family. Its easy to see why people might want a different career. Highly doubt the pay will be even remotely close and that likely wasn't a part of the survey.

He transitioned into wind power from the oil industry. He’s doing very well. Next week he’s in Texas in prep for another expansion of the Roscoe wind farm. Wind farming is a major industry parts of Texas. Lots of jobs and job growth.

Don't disagree that there are going to continue to be awesome opportunities for some however for the average oilfield worker, roughneck or the majority of them the drop in income will be massive. Anler
We have some pretty large wind farms about an hour south of me. I dont see much of a career there as once they are installed there isnt much left to do besides maintenance.
