Got milk? Yes, actually, U.S. has too much.

My great grandfather milked. My dad did beef and horses when he took over. Great uncle did seed potatoes.

Dad's gone and now the land is all corn, wheat, and soy grown by the neighbors. Dairy barn and hay loft are empty. Potato barns now store neighbor's equipment.

Neighbor does seed potatoes for Frito Lay though so they're rich af...

As I age, I'm been becoming less and less tolerant of milk. Had a bowl of cereal the other day for the first time in a while and had the raunchiest shit the next day.

Smelled like hot sick.

How old are you? I had to stop drinking it mid 30's because it was giving me the shits. Took me a yr to figure out it was milk.

40s

I've got some family members that can't have dairy at all so it makes sense I don't do well with it.

Good article.  I sell farm machinery.  So I have a bit of an understanding.  If you read that article the farmer by the name of Tony Hammell lives/farms just a couple miles east of my store.  Good customer of mine.  The big dairy he speaks of is De-Su Holsteins.  Even De-Su is not a mega dairy compared to some of the 10k dairies you find out west and down south.  Our ground is to hilly to support mega dairies but De-Su is sure trying.  There was a speaker at a dairy convention a couple years ago that was talking about expansion.  He basically said if a couple more 10k cow dairies come online there will be no where for the little dairy to take there milk to market.  Thats why you are starting to see farmers doing something like this.  https://www.gerdesfreshfarm.com/  Another good customer of mine.  Just getting started but they are going to be a big hit with all these "organic" hippy people....  People wanting to know where their food comes from is a good thing.

We have Riverview out here.

I'm not sure how many they milk, but I've heard they have around 60,000 milking head on around 10 different milking farms, and others that raise calves and heifers (with plans for another 2 or 3 10,000 cow farms planned/proposed)

We were the largest dairy in the area in the 60's-80's with 110 cow tie stall...
