jtssrx
I’m curious to hear why each of you think the case was dismissed.

Matt
Because it is not up to the Supreme Court to adjudicate how states control their elections. Federalism is good. Even if it means your side loses occasionally.
Guest
Because Trump is a motherfukker, who CAN NOT AND WILL NOT ACCEPT that he was a fluke as president, and was rejected by the voters. However he has the money and many supporters to try and undo the LOSS!! HE'S A LOSER, and his EGO can not accept it.
USA Contributing Member $poorsledder$ Posted December 14, 2020 USA Contributing Member Share Posted December 14, 2020 Because no election laws were broken at the state level as was being argued. It may be a little fucked up that you can change when and how ballots are received on the fly but it is the right of the states.
SSFB
Because Texas couldn’t make a case on how the elections of the other states infringed on Texas’ rights as a state.

So it was never heard on the merits of the case itself. The Supreme Court rendered no opinion on the merits if the case. So anyone claiming otherwise are just wrong. Second the seven justices that rejected the case claimed they didn’t have “Standing”. Standing, means they don’t have original jurisdiction. However the reason The case was brought to supreme court in the first place is because SCOTUS does have original jurisdiction in this case. Not only does Scotus have original jurisdiction they have exclusive jurisdiction because cases that are brought by states against another state cannot be heard in an individual states court per the constitution it goes directly to Scotus. If you read Alito and Thomas Dissent it apoears as though they are signaling to Trump and anyone who is trying to remedy this in court that SCOTUS and any other court will not help them with the election with any case they bring. that the courts don’t want to get involved in the election this time. That it’s political and not on the merits of any of the cases. If you look at the dismissals of most cases they’re not on the merits of the cases themselves. Almost 100% of the cases have been dismissed because of things like standing Or other technicalities.
1jkw
Alito and Thomas felt Texas had the standing for a case, it also seems they felt the case had no merit, listing everything else moot.
