  1. How about this is so F"ed up it should make the list.
  2. I think this is one of those cases where we are both right. The people are hurt by the sanctions without doubt but if the Mooolahs had unlimited oil money and access to nukes things would be worse.
  3. Jack White is kinda of an odd Duck in as much as he lives Out side of Nashville and really moves between Country, R&B and punk in his music. I can't think of anyone else who plays that diverse.
  4. There was a Off Broadway show a few years back called "The Sleeping Chicken" where a ex newspaper editor from Saudi talks about the fear in Saudi at the time (Mid 70s to early 90s) to stay out of the unrest in many of the other countries in the mid east. People like to have a feeling that things will be all right and for that they are willing to pay a price that includes a certain amount of restrictions. Sound familiar?
  5. Well yes but on opposite sides of the Suni / Shia divide which seems to be less of a obstacle for the youth.
  6. First of all the young lady from Saudi has a PhD from UConn and I would describe her as delightfully bubbly. You can't help but to like her. The Iranian girl from a few years back was much more serious but very respectful. I would say both had a common understanding that they were living a level of freedom not available to them at home (like most kids at college I would think). This year has brought some changes as the parents of the young lady from Saudi have been in the area.
  7. So the young lady from Saudi (who was here tonight) had a room mate in college from of all places Iran. The two of them were quite interesting on their views of their perspective leadership. The jist is the young prince in Saudi is more the direction both of the young ladies would like to see.
  8. Lifting sanctions will only make the grip of the current leadership in Iran tighter on the young people who will bring change. I agree that Iran is not a direct threat to us.
  9. I bet Duke Kaboom has been jerking off all day over this news.
  10. One of my lake buddies has a girl friend from Saudi who has been around for a few years now. Last summer she was very excited that when she went home to visit she would be able to drive for the first time legally. Just living in another century.
  11. It would be hard for younger people in both Iran and Saudi to understand that they would have have more freedoms in the late 70s than they have today. Most of this can be put at the feet of the current leadership in Iran.
  12. I get all that but the tension between Saudi and Iran goes back much further than that. It is a question of Chicken or Egg. Current tensions are fueled by history which in the middle east could go back a ways. Saudi would be much more modern if it were not for the Leadership in Iran.
  13. Well sort of. This is why I say they have a legitimate beef with Britain. The Moolahs in Iran have set the middle east as a whole back decades.
  14. Again I get what you are saying but Iran is not really in a position to be making moves like Syria. All it does is make it easier to keep sanctions in place or worse increase them. Leadership in Iran is at best self serving and dug in like a tick.
  15. Zionists aside Iran puts it's nose in places like Syria and other hot spots that it would be better served by not getting involved. Make no mistake Iran wants to be the main power in the middle east. This idea you seem to have that Iran is somehow innocent and minding it's own business seems a little misguided. the thing is I do believe that the Iranians have a legitimate beef with the British but their aggression towards Saudi Arabia and others over what amounts to religious slights seems misguided. Eleventh century leadership is really not a good fit for the modern world.
  16. The British could station war ships in or near the straights that would end Iran's control of the area. The Iranian Navy is no big deal but they do have land to Sea attack abilities which of course leads to attacks on the Iranian main land. strangely I think some sort of conflict in the Straights of Hormuz would be a positive for the US especially if we are not involved militarily. It would drive up the price of oil for Europe and give a pretty good boost to Trains in the US and a second Canal in south america.
  17. Two shipping Lanes in the world that connect Asia to Europe and the US. The Panama canal and the Suez via the Straights of Hormuz. If Iran is going to stop shipping in the Straights they are going to end up in a conflict on multiple fronts.
  18. You would be joining a cult if you bought one.
  19. It ain't easy making Elizabeth Warren look good but somehow Harris has pulled it off.
  20. Are there pricing tables out for this thing yet?
  21. You just know the hot version is going to have a huge wing on it.
